Has anyone used their open water rod yet? Not much info on their website.

I got my second TUC long rod early this spring, I went and met up with John at the shop and looked over all my options and settled with an amazing rod that I still cant find 1 thing I would do different on. My newest rod started out with a 6’8″ RX8 blank. I wanted John to build me the lightest most sensitive rod possible….I went with the following options: Black REC recoil guides, split reel seat, Black EVA foam grips, Black guide wrap with dark silver accents. John weighed my finished rod at 3.05 oz., but that still had the tag on so it could be less , lol. I paired this rod up with a pflueger patriarch and talk about a sweet sweet combo. It is incredibly light and handles big fish extremely well. I have been in talks with John and will be in the market for another one when they come out with a tad longer blanks…..Thanks

I am on my second TUCR open water spinning rod. I had these rods built specifically for pitching 1/8th, 3/16th oz jig/plastic combos. I have one in a 6’8″ length and another in 6’4″ model. Both with split grip, one with recoil guides, and both paired with Shimano CI4 Stradics. I have had my 6’8″ for 2 seasons already and I just picked up my 6’4″ last week. The fit and finish of these rods is very good, the guys at TUCR listened to what I was looking for in a rod, proposed a blank for my fishing needs and frankly hit a homerun for what I was looking for. John and Adam know open water rods as well. I think they have been building open water rods longer than ice fishing rods. Best thing to do is give them a call, setup a time to meet at the shop and let the design process begin.

Openwater rods are a more complex build process. There is about 100 times more options in an openwater rod than and ice rod. Guide choices alone are endless.

Give one of us a call and we are more than happy to help.

    Thank you.
