Re: Nightcrawlers……Will flats be available this spring? I have not been able to determine anything from my online research or phone calls. Of course if the rainy is completely shut down, it doesn’t matter, but if it is open, this becomes a big deal to me! Sorry to derail the virus talk, but I needed a new topic!

I received an email from one of my distributors that all non essential materials from Canada were shut down.

Not sure where “Canadian crawlers” come from, or how essential they are but doesn’t look good.

Looks like Ontario shut down all nonessential businesses yesterday. I don’t know what that means for crawlers though. Maybe they are considered farms and will still be able to function.

I think i could fill 40-50 flats based on how bumpy the yard is at my new house.

Try the GULP night crawlers. Obviously is not “live” bait but it might be the second best option without the real ones.

I picked up some Uncle Josh Pork Meat Crawlers, in the 7″ Canadian Crawler color last year on a clearance sale. I used them on a lake last year, Lindy rigging for Walleye, that had a ton of small perch, and they worked awesome. Couldn’t be more happy with how they worked out. Guess I will have to keep them handy.

    “SPEEDY WORM”

Faster and less expensive than where you buy your crawlers today.
    Just checked their website…appears open.

That’s where I bought them in the past. Good service.

Emailed them and checked – should be available in a couple weeks or a little less.

I have little to no faith in artificials for sturgeon. I don’t think you can beat meat….. whistling

My bait dealer buddy confirmed. There’s most likely to be a shortage of “Canadian” crawlers. How long is anyone’s guess.
