I have some more pike I want to pickle. I tried fishthumper recipe and really like it. I only did the basic recipe. My question is to the ones who have done variations like adding lemon or garlic or peppers or whatever. Please post with amounts used. I want to put successful amounts that you have come up with so I don’t over do it and ruin the batch. And with the garlic do you use fresh garlic or minced or powdered. Thanks for the help.

I have used a small tablespoon of minced garlic per quart jar and it added a light garlic taste, probably could add more. this last batch, I added about 8 pieces of sliced jalapenos to a quart and it was a mild taste, not overpowering at all

A couple keys to pickling is to use stainless or glass bowls not plastic. Do not pack the fish. Loose pack the finished product. I put about 2 thick slices of lemon topping of my jar for that flavor.

Thanks for the input guys. The garlic and the lemon both sound good. I’ll have to try them both.
