Just a guess, but maybe equipped with auto-trim.
Definitely scary

AnonymousInactivePosts: 0May 8, 2019 at 7:29 am #1855308Lucky for the driver how about the other guy?
It was the drivers dad and you can see him riding in the boat on the left then jump onto the bow at the end.
May 8, 2019 at 7:54 am #1855314Had the passenger been given a proper spot to hold on to and a seat that actually cradled him (even just having the armrest down would have helped) this may have never happened. You can see him try to hold on to the gunwale right before impact. If there were a solid handle he may have never started flying across the seats taking out the driver. However I will say 3Gs is A LOT and may be too much for some to hold on.
Doesn’t mean they can forget the killswitch however.
DeucesPosts: 5268May 8, 2019 at 8:28 am #1855325Of he wasn’t too busy looking at the camera and the depthfinder he may have avoided getting to close to the white buoy and having to turn.
Glad to see they are ok.
zooksPosts: 922May 8, 2019 at 10:06 am #1855350The guy that jumps in the boat looks to be the original driver
I believe this is correct as well. Scary stuff and glad everything seemed to turn out OK.
B-manPosts: 5927May 8, 2019 at 10:37 am #1855361It would be nice if all the big name outboard manufacturers got on board with this company, or come up with their own remote tether.
It would add peanuts to the cost of a new boat, and save lives, limbs and property.
May 8, 2019 at 10:43 am #1855368Thanks for posting the link. I’ve never seen this one- I’ll have to see if it will work with mine since I don’t have a kill switch at all and am out by myself the majority of the time.

I’ll start a new thread about the remote tether to keep this one on track
ClownColorInactiveThe Back 40Posts: 1955May 8, 2019 at 11:02 am #1855372I’ve always wondered why boats don’t have a throttled spring like ever other vehicle or engine. If I fall off my snowmobile, it’ll stop, my atv, it’ll stop, If I fall out my car door, it’ll stop, jet ski, snowblower, lawnmower, weedwhhhip…all stop if i lay off the throttle. Wonder what the design purpose was?????

May 8, 2019 at 11:31 am #1855384I bet that guy never neglects to use his kill switch lanyard ever again

We got to use a Crestliner basshawk last year and had a remote key fob that would not let you start the motor without the fob in the boat.
I do not know if this was an option or if it was standard or if it was just for this demo boat but I did like the idea. (was frustrating when I didn’t know that system was on the boat though)
Edit, it was this system installed on the basshawk. The boat was a 2019 model factory demo so not sure if they typically come with them or not. Was pretty slick though.
May 8, 2019 at 12:42 pm #1855424I’m surprised that guy was able to jump even with his massive balls of steel weighing him down…
May 10, 2019 at 1:29 pm #1856070Had a friend die on Rainy Lake few years ago no kill switch hit a rock bluff at dark tossed out of boat he was found with his leg cut off as the boat circled him. A damn shame I always wear my kill switch… These guys were lucky
May 10, 2019 at 1:54 pm #1856073IDK- we’ll see. I haven’t tried calling yet but in the Q&A portion it says it works as long as you have the corded version of kill switch. Mine has nothing.

pretty sure the person in customer service responding to questions doesn’t know a lot. It’s almost certainly feasible to use.

How do you shut your motor down is there a push button or key you can wire in a regular kill switch should not be to much hassle or work.
