Why does deep water and barotrauma keep getting mentioned for 4 pages now? Am I getting a different version of the original post here or what?
Bc the OP did mention both, and if you take barotrauma out of the hooking mortality discussion, there is no argument to be made as hooking mortality WITHOUT barotrauma as a factor (in the OP’s shallow water example) makes Hooking mortality effectually non-existent. Especially in the winter. This doesn’t mean there aren’t still deep hooked fish or other things that can lead to hooking mortality, it means that those are such rare examples that per the DNR’s own studies, it is not a significant impact that would impact fish populations.
