Anchor Bungee Recommendation?

I’m looking to get an anchor bungee. I’ve heard they help hold the boat in place during windy conditions and want to give it a try. I’m looking for a recommendation on what bungee or snubber works for you or what to avoid. I have a 17 foot Lund Explorer. The boat, motors, batteries, gear, gas, and passengers I’m guessing have a total weight in the 1,800 – 2,000 pound range. I use a Richter-like anchor (different brand) that weights 25 lbs and I have 110 ft of anchor line. Sometimes I’ll drop another anchor off the back cleat to help reduce boat sway.

    Thanks,
    Boone

I’ve made my own, when the “Drop and Stay” was in business. I got a poly cutting board from Fleet Farm, cut out the shape of a boat cleat, drilled a hole at the bottom, got 1/2″ cord and had them sew the loops with their heavy duty sewing machines and saved a bunch. I can provide photos if you’d like, just pm me. It didn’t take but a half hour on my end and $15 tops for 4 different units with the cord and cost of sewing. The bottom line is “yes” they do work and work well. I’ve used them with a 15 mph wind on Bago with a 25 pound anchor and chain and have seen where I’m using 1/2 as much line to keep anchor.

I’ve been running my own homemade style for a few seasons now.

Buy $2 bungee. I prefer the heavy duty rubber black ones with removable hooks on the end.

Remove the hooks. Add a caribeaner to each end.

Take a small block of wood. Attach an anchor cleat to one side. Attach a metal ring to the other side.

Drop anchor. Tie rope to cleat. Attach bungee to metal ring. Other end of bungee to the boat. Tie tag end of anchor rope to boat cleat to prevent bungee from stretching beyond its safe point.

    Done.

Nasty weather i’ll add two bungees.
I run various lengths for different situations.

Total cost probably $15. I’ve given a few of the block/cleat/metal rings away to friends.

Looked for pictures but i don’t have any.
