I’m seeing and hearing many reports that the bigger box stores cant keep ammo on the shelves… People are worried about the virus and the election coming up so they are feeling the need to grab up whats left.
I decided to join in as well.

No! Might be worrying about State of Emergency! Trying to take guns away> A town in Illinois is trying. Also remember Katrina taking guns away!

can confirm. Was at a local store and they even had signs up limiting how much you could buy. Couldn’t find decent 9mm…

9mm was out, 22lr was low, but .380 had a decent supply left where I was at.

You realize that buying unneeded ammo contributes to the problem, right? It’s the same as TP hoarding. Take off your tinfoil hats, chill, and be comforted by the 20,000 rounds that you already have stockpiled.
(this PSA comes to you from a gun owner who has a reasonable quantity of ammo)

Firearm & ammunition manufactures love 2 things:

    1. A liberal winning an election to drive demand
    2. A good ole’ fashioned panic to get people stocking up on more ammunition than they could ever unload while the government overpowers them anyways

I’ve been thinking the same thing. All these guys going out and buying ammo then coming home to their internet and ripping on those buying TP.

It’s not hoarding Ralph, but Barak Hussein probably appreciates your thoughts. It’s a matter of the upper echelon of our society, the smarter, better prepared ones, doing what they have to do to win.

When in the last two centuries did anyone living in the US need 1000 rounds of ammo to “win”? You guys a plan idiots if you feel the need to stock pile ammo…and TP! Why do you feel you need more ammo now then you did two months ago? Cause of a virus? you gonna shot those germs to death? You are living in an unrealistic fantasy if you think it’s going to be like “the walking dead.” Enjoy!

I look at it this way – People buying future Christmas presents for their children shouldn’t be a bad thing.

What problem? Let ’em buy all the ammo they want. There’s a far greater need today for TP that most everyone needs than there is for ammo that only the gun owners want. So…it’s not the same as TP hoarding.

My opinion also comes from “a gun owner who has a reasonable quantity of ammo” also.

You need to go away. The forums would be a better place for it.

Lots of items are being scooped up. And its changing daily. Yesterday the produce dept in 3 large stores around me were full. Today they have barely anything.
Its getting weird fast. The ammo thing has nothing to do with anti-gun threats. Ammo is just one of those commodities that seems necessary in hard times. Like TP.

I need to go away? I’m hardly the only guy who talks like this. Been reading this forum for a long time on a buddy’s recommendation and as long as i’ve been reading this site has been mostly Republican. Oh and a week ago Holst pretty much endorsed our guy Trump so I think i’m safe to talk

This is an outdoors focused (mostly) site that specifically bans extreme political and religious posts. Go find some like-minded conspiracy theorists to chat with, come here to talk about hunting, fishing, TP and liquor.

Donald J. I think it’s important to point out that while many IDO member are of one party or the other or the other, almost all of us have our opinions. However, all of the members (Including James) who participate on a regular basis do not spend any energy trying to change other members minds. So to say a political comment here or there is not allowed but tolerated is correct. To say IDO’ers would tolerate endorsing a party in every post they make would be incorrect.

In other words, no matter how often you post your pro Trump comments, you ain’t changing anyone’s mind here. So it would probably be better to leave them on the sidelines.

Bargain basement prices and massive overstocks for the last 3 years and people still are panic buying. 2008 and 2013 taught many not a damn thing apparently. My ammo fort is well stacked. )

Seems like every time I buy/build a gun this stuff happens. Last time was when I bought my 9. A few months into it and a 100 round box of WWB was going for nearly $80 and it was the death of super cheap .22lr. This time around I’m building a 10.5” 300 blk so I can get back into whitetail. I was at my local shop a week ago getting my lower receiver and everything seemed to be business as usual. I guess we shall see though.

Mass induced hysteria at its best.

Hey, don’t forget that .22 rimfire is going to become an alternative currency.

Or was that during the last chickensh!t panic? It’s hard to keep these things straight.

Didn’t look real close but Carver Fleet Farms ammo supply looked pretty good about a half hour ago when I walked past.

I don’t recall the year but it was year the gov’t agencies were “hoarding” ammo. I needed a box of .308 for deer season couldn’t find any. Needless to say I now have enough .308, 30-06, 30-30 and 22 to last a lifetime.

In response to Bob Clowncolor’s post on not needing much ammo:

Well, I know I need that much. A few of my friends are getting together this weekend. It is normally our March Madness party, but with basketball sidelined, we will be smoking some meat, smoking some cigars, and probably some gun barrels will be smoking also. Last year at this gathering I myself went through almost 2000 rounds of ammo shooting steel targets. Doubt it will be any different this year.
