Just bought this ammo from basspro shops it is Herter’s 300Blk out ammo. I don’t usually inspect store bought ammo but I just happen to do so on this stuff and noticed so many inconsistencies on the depth the bullets are pressed. Is this normal? Photo attached

It’s not normal, but hard to tell from your photo. It would be better to have them standing up, then you could tell if the overall length is the same on the rounds. I think the problem is the bullets are poor quality and the cannelure is not in a consistent location on the bullet.

Not very common, but happens. Remember, factory ammo is to “max oal “ doesn’t mean it won’t be shorter.

I’d verify OAL and compare to SAAMI spec. If all is kosher then let it buck.

This is definitely a side-effect to the current ammo shortage and all of these operations going balls-to-the-wall 24/7 to try and keep up/capitalize on demand.

Here’s the min and max overall length.
Personally I’d discard the oddball in the group with a different oal.

    Specifically what ammo was it?
    Picture of box would suffice.
