Got anything more recent than 2020?

The last time a trade deal was negotiated between USA and Canada was 2020.

No changes have been made – everyone in the US and Canada have honoured and followed the deal until Trump reneged on it last month.

At that time, in 2020, Trump claimed he made a deal that was a historic win for the USA.

Now he says that Canada is ripping off USA – still the same deal he thought then was great , now it’s terrible ????

He says first – Jan 2025 – it’s all about Fentanyl, when only 1% of all Fentanyl snuggled into USA is from Canada , 99% from Mexico – and Canada immediately agreed to “Step Up” and stop that 1% – we spent $1.3 Billion right away and we are working on it big time.

So then he changes his tune and starts to say the deal from 2020 is awful, Canada is ripping off USA ??

So Canada says OK let’s re negotiate it then.

Trump says no – we are going to hit Canada with devastating Tariffs so their economy crashes .

Sooo What does Trump actually want ?

Trump Does not respond to asks to re negotiate the trade deal to stop the war on Canada he has started, at least so far.

If Trumps trade war continues, both economies will be devastated.

I actually agree with Trumps idea to get business to build more in the USA, Canada needs to do the same , time we both stopped buying all our poop from China, I just don’t think you need to destroy all relationships with your allies and their countries economies to do it.

I believe 3 times the amount of fentynal is confiscated in U.S. airports and ports compared to confiscated at the Canadian border. It’s laughable to keep flip flopping on why he is picking a fight with Canada. What’s even funnier is watching all his minions flip flop on why they support it.

I think he’s losing his mind like Biden. Time to stop electing nursing home candidates.

call me stupid but as far as i know uscma trade deal has nothing to do with tarrifs. Particularly canadas 200 to 300 percent tarrif on us dairy.

    Ok… Page 4: https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/R45661

    “Under USMCA, Canada has agreed
to maintain its dairy supply management system, but the TRQs are to be increased each year for
U.S. exports of milk, cheese, cream, skim milk powder, condensed milk, yogurt, and several other
dairy categories (see Table 2). U.S. dairy exports to Canada is to continue to face zero in-quota
tariffs, as under NAFTA. Exports over set quota limits are to continue to face tariffs as high as
    200% to 300%.”

Yes the USMCA is the agreement that outlines and dictates the terms of all of the Tariffs between Canada and USA.

Yes this is the “Historic Deal” Trump agreed to and bragged about, that he won for the USA in 2020

Yes Canada is adhering to,the rules of that deal.

Yes Trump decided, ON HIS OWN , to renege on that deal, and attack Canada with a whole new set of Tariffs he thinks will hopefully drive companies to open their businesses in the USA.

No the American Government has not yet had a vote on these Tariffs.

Canadian companies will now have to find new trading partners in other countries and the companies in the USA relying on that trade from Canada will dry up.

Canada still does have a “Trump Card” in this trade war we really do not wish to use, but if this carries on too long perhaps it will come to that.

The USA imports about 25% of the crude oil it needs every year for its economy to operate, 80% of that crude oil is from Canada.

This crude oil that US buys is actually what makes the trade deficit Trump complains about, USA buys $100 Billion worth of crude every year from Canada. No crude from Canada , US would have a trade surplus with Canada .

Canada DISCOUNTS that crude oil to the USA by about 20% from world market price – because we are good trading partners.

Canada’s “Trump Card” in the war that Trump started is to, in the first step remove the 20% discount – gas prices in USA rise. Second step is to reroute all crude exports from Canada to Asia and other countries, – gas prices at the pumps in USA skyrocket, double, triple ?

Hopefully some common sense will prevail in the US government and this trade war will never see the Canadian Trump Card.

    You are totally correct.

No one should switch from Eem to Rep or vis versa.

But maybe more Americans should do what really has always made America Great.

They speak up against their own party leaders , either Dem or Rep, when they see those leaders do something they know is just plain wrong.

Lots of what the Rep’s are doing is great, but some of it is just plain wrong.

    Out
