Like it or not Donald Trump is the president of the United States. Most of you complaining do not like change not matter what it is. People complaining about what things will cost? The biggest increase of goods happend during goverment over reach during covid. The people who are worried about the cost of luxury items probably don’t want to buy them anyways just want there voice heard. The sun will come up tommorrow just like it has.

My brother is a steel/metal regional salesman.

The last time there were tariffs implemented on foreign goods, mainly Chinese steel, he did well. Because the cost of that supply source went up, and his clients still needed steel. So they started buying more domestically produced steel, and Canadian steel, which he could supply.

Unfortunately, he also admitted that he was probably one of the very few that benefited from this, because the price tag for the products he manages and sells went up for the end users, and indirectly, the consumers.

It benefits a small segment of the demographic. Just not the consumers overall.

I am guessing the shuttered steel plants in Pittsburgh happened Pre-tariffs, the last go round. They didn’t close over night and won’t re-open overnight either.

A lot of people here need to spend some time learning about economics to fully understand what is happening and what trump is trying to do

Go ahead, please explain. [grabs popcorn] This ought to be good. Make sure to include analysis on how supporting Putin and invading Greenland plays into this.

I can’t wait for Trump to roll back all the tariffs and then take credit for fixing the situation that he created.

Did I miss something??? Was it reported that Trump is now sending Money and military equipment to Putin ??? All I saw was how much Biden sent to Ukraine. When did the Greenland Invasion start?? Is it over with already ???? Must have been reporting from CNN.

bucky, do you really think your beliefs align better with the democrats than you do Trump ? are you a one issue voter ? or are you always playing devils advocate ? did you really think Biden did great and Kamala would just continue the great progress ??

Biden and Kamala, no. Hence the previous post where I said I didn’t vote for either.

Trump – the first time around yes. This time, no. Hence the previous post where I said I didn’t vote for him or Kamala this round.

I was raised in a rural town by a moderately conservative family and have voted that way my entire life. I was taught to mind my own business and look out for those I care about, not get caught up in social issues that don’t impact me, and to outwork those around you if you wanted more. I used to think my views were pretty “normal”, but now I’m an outlier.

I’m not sorry if it ruffles feathers that I’m a christian, conservative, landowning outdoorsman who thinks DT has some stupid economic ideas/policies. He’s done some good and there are things I support (opening things back up after he shut them down in Covid, supporting 2nd amendment rights, securing our southern border, alleged tax breaks if they make it to me). It’s scary how many simple-minded people believe you have to choose sides in every political battle and consume one party’s entire platform as if it were dessert.

Pretty skeptical about youtube investors. He lost me when he said inflation was lowering. CPI reports from Fed have steadily increased and predicted to be 0.3% higher for February.

But yes, these are DCA-ing opportunities.

very well said bucky. I’m in the exact same boat as you. I would never go all in on a candidate just because of their party. Ask me about a specific topic and lets talk about that. Sadly, if you disagree with anyone on this website, you get labeled as having TDS. God forbid someone goes issue by issue rather than blind allegiance to a candidate.

Also, for the record, Biden did a lot of stupid sh*t too, and he deserved to be called out about it as many did here. However, that’s water under the bridge now and this tit for tat “well Biden did this so its ok Trump did that” is childish and needs to stop. We need to look forward, not behind us. We’re all on the same team and I wish we’d start acting like it.

Well said by both Bucky and Gitchi. While I have voted Red for a long time, I’m far from a traditional Republican. I for one hope that by next election someone can see the thirst for another option and we can get behind an independent party to hopefully help end the back and forth.

Ditto. Probably my last post on this subject as I think it’s pretty pointless to argue back and fourth. I will say this. For those that do not support the DT I get it, but to think you or your so call party even tried to come up with a better solution is laughable. You took the the current president who was obviously not fit to run another four years and tossed out Harris and Walz a month out of the election was a good idea and try and overcome that. Unfortunately we reap what we sew now. Good bad or otherwise. If the Dems have a better alternative then put them out there because what was tossed out there a month out was not very impressive. You kind of have to live with what we got now. Don’t have to like it but what sense does it make to fight every bit of it along the way now. Unfortunately I don’t see this changing anytime soon. The two parties are so far off the rails it is disturbing. The country is so far split it would take a miracle to bring us all together again. I don’t like it but the further we separate ourselves from our core values the harder it will be to bring them back together at one point.

Sorry long rant and I’m out of this topic. Just doesn’t do all of us any good arguing over and over about the same things.

Some people believe everything the media spits out. The only people who say trump is gonna invade any peaceful country and is supporting putin is the MEDIA. They take parts of sentances he or the press secretary said and put them together and try to make a threat humanity out of it. Neither he or any of his administration has said anything about attacking greenland with the military. We had no problem with putin during trump 1.0 that ended when your idol sleepy joe and cackles stood by and let putin invade ukraine while pouring billions of taxpayers dollars into a senseless war. Sorry but even though everybody is entitled to their opinions that dosnt mean they can change the truth.

We are well aware you hate trump. We will all still go fish and hunt in Canada as we wish. Nothing will change in that rate. Why don’t you ever complain about the lies and empty promises the last party told. I think they both suck. There are definitely some things this administration does or says that leave me scratching my head. But from what I seen his first 4 years was way better then the Biden time. Biden and the lady were also intolerable. Sad that we fight each other over 2 parties that would both not urine on us if we were on fire.

Your are right i do hate trump from the day he mocked a disabled reporter ! That hit home for me , you see i have a brother who has autism .Guess that matters none to you ? Besides that guess it does not matter that he lied about those day 1 promise’s ? “we need to give him some time ” Are you tired of winning ?? I see no winning at all. The claims of fraud yet NO One is indicted or IDENTIFIED ? Its all BS! PS: why should i complain about the previous admin record unemployment ! Stock market at an all time high !!, capped the cost of insulin at 35 dollars , (trump reversed that )Introduced the CHIPS act to move semiconductor manufacturing to the US . How about that infrastructure legislation that was passed under Biden to get 40 thousand projects underway that had been stalled for years ? If you take a minute Biden did many things right if you choose to acknowledge them . What’s funny is trump, now a car salesman for TESLA ?? Lol Typically Tesla’s are cars desired by liberals LOL Yet trumpy buys one as the stock market plunges LOL What a joke ! Trump demands Zelinsky kiss his ass ? Yet putin WAS and still is the invader ? ? The war stops now as soon as Russia stops invading ! You bet i hate trump i did not take an oath to uphold the Constitution for this asshat to totally violate it .

Rip, just because someone doesn’t align with Trumps policies doesn’t mean they align with Biden. Again, quit thinking of everything in terms of blind allegiance to a single party. I go issue by issue and I think we’d all be better off if we didn’t give either party blind allegiance regardless of what they do. Lots of empty promises and f’ed up agendas on both sides of the aisle.

has anyone heard Canada say lets renegotiate trade tariffs? As long as its in Canada’s favor they have no desire. come up with a fair deal for both countries and we’re both out of this situation. I would think shutting down the cartels and stopping the flow into and out of Canada would be a priority unless Canada is somehow making money from it through the cartels.

Yes Canadian Trade ministers have been asking Trump to renegotiate the NAFTA deal instead of Tarriffs since he first threatened them in January.

He immediately said Tarriffs were because of Fentanyl and Bad border control.

Canada agreed , just spent 1.3 Billion on NEW border control initiatives, created a Canadian Border Czar position and new department to help fight illegal border crossing, all drugs, guns, contraband, etc.

Trump said not good enough , and then switched to Trade deficit complaints.

AND YET in 2020 Trump announced to the USA on the “Great Deal” he had made for America on trade with USA and Mexico .

Not sure about Mexico but Canada has followed this agreement to the letter and honoured the deal completely since its inception in 2020.

Now Trump does not honour the “deal” he made a few years ago – it was according to him then a “Great Deal” that he made for the American people.

We in Canada say , What does Frump actually want ?

51rst State – never going to happen. Period.

So we’re does that leave us all Canadians and Americans?.

    Donald J. Trump – January 2020 SAYS:

“The USMCA is the largest, most significant, modern, and balanced trade agreement in history. All of our countries will benefit greatly.”
    President Donald J. Trump

So he is very happy with the trade arrangements in 2020 , tells America he was the reason they have a “Historic Win for American Workers”

2025 Trump says Canada “ripping off USA” and yet NOTHING HAS CHANGED since 2020 when Trump bragged about his great win.

Canada has followed and honoured the Agreement with our “friends and neighbours “ in the USA to the letter.

WTF ??? Is actually going on ?

    Fox NEWS – Jan 2020

    President Donald J. Trump
DELIVERING ON HIS PROMISE: President Donald J. Trump is replacing the outdated North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Today, President Trump is signing his historic USMCA deal, making good on his promise to deliver fairer and more reciprocal trade for the American people.
USMCA will replace the terrible NAFTA agreement that resulted in the loss of millions of American jobs and devastated communities across our country.
The deal marks a tremendous victory for American workers, farmers, manufacturers, and businesses alike.
