They cheated like our dems Beast. rotflol: rotflol rotflol ( just poking the bear – not YOU-per se just the proverbial bear ) waytogo
I think the goal is to eliminate the fraud and waste (USAID for example) to see where we are then forge ahead.Hell if they can save 500 billion or a trillion that’s huge in the minds of the populace. Then they would have the support moving forward for a more conservative approach to the entirety.
I’m just excited we have opportunity right now. There was NONE w the previous administration. My two cents

Mark Carrey was elected as the new liberal party leader since Trudeau stepped down. In doing so he becomes Prime Minister for the remainder of Trudeau’s term which is some time in October.

Also ask them how would they like to pay 50% less for dairy products from the US as Canada has a tariff on US milk in excess of 200%.

False. This claim of a 200%+ Canadian tariff on US dairy products has constantly been debunked. There is no blanket Canadian tariff on dairy.

This is exposing the very limited knowledge most have of our trade with Canada. And everywhere else.

This parroted 200% tariff is probably a misunderstanding of supply management quotas in NAFTA. Under the most recent agreement (that Trump signed), US exporters of dairy into Canada have maximum monthly export allowances. IF the individual exporter exceeds these allowances, they are subject to increasing tariffs that start at 4% and go up in increments to a maximum of 200%.

But the 3 key things to know are 1) that no exporter has ever gone so far over their supply management quota that a 200% tariff has been applied. And 2) these stepped tariffs are only applied to INDIVIDUAL exporters, not across the board on all US exporters. And now the biggest one. 3) Supply management quotas apply both ways. The US also applies them to imports on categories of goods.

    Grouse,

I understand that however the supply quota is an artificial limit set to support the Canadian Dairy farmers. Honorable and I agree that no one goes beyond the supply limit because it’s too costly. The US has become very efficient in milk and dairy production. If there were no cutoff point Canadians would enjoy cheaper dairy products, not unlike the US does to support it’s sugar industry. Heck it wasn’t but a recent past that dairy farmers were way outproducing the demand and dumping milk.

To extend Grouse’s statement, the US is a net exporter of dairy to Canada to the tune of >$100 million.

Once tariffs are in place it will take years if not decades for them to come off . The tariff threat by trump is crazy! One day there on the next day there off the day after that there back on ?? If he figures they are so great why does he just not implement them ? From the self proclaimed STABLE Genius “She destroyed the city of San Francisco. It’s — and I own a big building there. It’s — no — I shouldn’t talk about this. But that’s OK. I don’t give a damn because that’s what I’m doing. [cheers from crowd] I should say it’s the finest city in the world — telling ‘Get the hell out of there’ — right? But I can’t do that. I don’t care. You know. I lost billions . . . billions of dollars. You know? Somebody here . . . ‘What do you think you lost?’ I said, ‘Probably two-three billion.’ They said, ‘You think you’d do it again?’ And that’s the least of it. Nooobody [pause] . . . They always say . . . I don’t know if you know . . . [inaudible] Lincoln was horribly treated . . . Uhhh . . . Jefferson was pretty horribly . . . Andrew Jackson, they say, was the worst of all . . . that he was treated worse than any other president. And, I said, ‘do that study again,’ because I think there’s nobody close [laughter from crowd] to Trump. I even got shot. And who the hell knows where that came from, right?” How can anyone take him for anything else than a dimwit ?

When I go up there this summer I can guarantee we won’t talk politics for one second. We’ll talk fishing, drink a beer, and get on the airplane to be flown into our spot. It’ll be the same like it is every year.

Stop making a mountain out of a molehill.

I’ll be fishing Canadian waters in the next couple weeks. I’m guessing it’ll be just fine. The sky isn’t falling.

    Yep and yep.
