Hello, I am considering the purchase of an Aluminum Skid Ice House 8′ x 12′ or 14′. I have narrowed it down to 2 manufacturers Ice-Trek or Ice Cave. The information I can’t seem to find is how well do these house pull in deeper snow? I currently have a 700 ATV with tracks that are lightly studded for ice and plan to move to a 900 or 1000 side by side with tracks down the road. With our snow conditions here in ND everyone I know with wheel houses can’t get out most places. I am looking for input from someone with a skid house or has had one that could give me some personal input. besides the manufacturers. Thanks Dennis.

Hey Dennis. I live just west of Minot. I have an 8×12 aluma-lite.
Not sure where you are, but if you are in the area and want to take a peek at mine or tow it around with your ATV for a bit let me know.

I pull it with a Honda Foreman 500 with tracks. I have also pulled it with a Polaris RMK 600, but wouldn’t want to do it a lot.

My foreman has no problem pulling it. I had it fully loaded with gear plus pulling a portable behind it up on Clearwater last year, and had no problem pulling it. The machine works hard, and isn’t the fastest thing, but it definitely will pull it.

A SXS with tracks would be the best thing to pull it with I think. But your 700 atv will do just fine too. Shoot me a PM if you want to try pulling mine around for a bit.

Thanks for the info. I’m in Bismarck I would be interested in looking at your house and trailer. Is it possible to send some pictures when you get time? No big hurry I don’t plan to pull the pin on anything till spring/summer. You can email if you like to [email protected].
    Thanks,
    Dennis
