Alumacraft V14 Seat Removal – Again

Last year I posted about removing the middle bench on my V14. I did so but never found a good way to reinforce the sides and so put it back in. I love the boat but hate the seat. I also hate the idea of having to find a different boat and selling mine (although if anyone has a lead on a 14′ Lunker or Backtroller, let me know).

That being said, is there any good and sound way to reinforce the sides after the seat is removed? Any and all ideas welcome.

We’ve had 2 boats now where we’ve removed the benches with no reinforcement and have been fine. Multiple trips to Canada loaded to the gills, smacking the heck out of river rollers, you name it, it’s been beatin

I cut mine so I had a walk through. I used part is the bench frame to create 2 small storage areas on each side. I was then able to reattach to the sides to reinforce. Wish I had pics but it worked great.

I also agree that you probably don’t need the reinforcement though.
