175 Competitor Sport with Yamaha F150

1994 Backtroller, 25hp Johnson, awesome boat that’s perfect for the river and metro lakes we fish. Added nets to the front and LEDs inside as well. Don’t mind the daughters demon eyes, I told her that’s normal for Dad too when you really want to catch that last fish of the day….
2009 Tournament 185 CS with 150 and 9.9 high thrust. I had a Monark since I was out of high school and moved from that with a 78″beam to this with a 97″ beam and absolutely love this boat!!
2014 175 dominator sport limited with 115hp Yamaha.
2003 Tuffy 1760 with Mercury 150 Verado. It’s my 3rd year with her.
Sorry, just noticed it’s the alumacraft form, my bad, at least the attachment came out upside down, lol.
2004 Trophy 175 with Merc 115 4-Stroke. Wish I had a bigger motor but I’ve gotten many miles and many fish out of this boat. Also had the kids grow up skiing and tubing behind it. Good memories and more to come!
ET
2009 185 Tournament Pro. 150 four stroke and 9.9 kicker. I just upgraded last year and absolutely love it!
Quick question for everyone… What do you use to pull your boat with? I had an 05 Silverado Crew cab that had the 3.42 gear package and it was terrible for pulling long distance over 60 mph. I sold it this spring and am looking for a new truck. I was looking into the Vortec max, the 6.2 liter or the new for with the 5.0. If any of you have any input that would be very helpful.
Thank you,
benn

What do you mean by terrible? I’ve towed both my lund and my dad’s 175 navigator sport with my 09 crew cab silverado, 5.3 v8 with the 3.42 and have no ‘issues’ towing either boat and plenty of power.
It wouldn’t ever stay in one gear. My boat was pretty bad towing if I hit any incline it wanted to go right up to 3500 Rpms. For just towing down to the river I was ok with the 45 minute drive but going out west or up north for the weekend I could never use cruise control or it would shift down every 15-20 seconds. Does your 09 have the 6 speed or the 4 speed transmission?
Some changes since my last post: Exchanged inline 3 cyl 90 for a 4 cyl 90 HO and Ford F150 for a 2015 Chevy Colorado.
2015 trophy 185 LE, f150 yammie with f9.9, lowrance touch 9’s electronics, xi5 trolling motor with pinpoint, ez loader upgraded trailer with bunks, tuff coat, swing tongue, l.e.ds, boat buckles.
almost finished with break in.
Our first boat, have yet to see one like it anywhere. 1998 Alumacraft Phantom V170, 115hp Mercury 2+2 motor, Helix 5 and 7, Minnkota trolling motor with Co-Pilot. She’s resting in storage now,but will be coming out soon!
Got my 2019 Competitor 205 Sport home a couple weeks ago, just getting to break her in, got about 5 hours on it so far. That 250 SHO really makes me smile.
Added some stick on rope lights under the Alumatrak rail, went with red to help with night blindness….Nice clean install, no wires, tied it into the front light so its on a switch. Lights up the boat pretty well.
