I have a 2yr old 90 etec. Do you think that will be enough motor for a alumacraft navigator 175 cs?

Should be all right. Would guess mid 30s out of it. Would go bigger if you can.

Well, I think if it’s about fishing you’ll be fine. If it’s about racing, you should then max out hp to boats capacity.

BTW, what is max hp on that rig? 150??? If it is that much, I think 90 is likely a disappointment. If it’s 115hp, then your on the lowest end…IMHP

    Good fishing

My friend has a 175 with a 90 honda. Runs 34-35 seems to be fine.

I have a navigator 165 sport with a 90 hp Yamaha and I only get 41 mph on that. I think a 90 on 175 might be a bit to small. When I was buying my boat last year I was going to get the 175 with a 115 Yamaha but the salesman talked me out of it.

I had that boat and I rigged it with a 140 suzuki, the 90 won’t be enough for the boat. With two guys in it and gear with the 140 I could get top speed of 42mph so I would think that the 90 would be a disappointment. When I bought the boat John Theilen heavily suggested going to full potential of the boat and at that time the 140 was max. I would suggest a 115 at the minimum but with the low cost upgrading I would max it out, helps a lot with resale down the road if you are ever going to want to sell.

The 175 tiller is maxed with a 75hp tiller. As flatfish said, if fishing, it would be okay. I had a trophy 175 with a 115 Etec on it and got 40 mph with an aluminum prop which had excellent holeshot. I personally would not use the 90 hp on that hull–it would be a disappointment. My 165 Navigator Sport has the 90 on it and will do 39 mph with a stainless prop, 37 mph with an aluminum. Resale would prove difficult with an underpowered rig. Is there a compelling reason o keep the 90 hp motor?

I have a 175 Nav. with a 115 Yamaha. Forty-one by myself. I don’t know if I’d go any lower. A 90 with two people might bring you down to around 30 mph.
