I know this could really range but…what have you guys/gals spent on rigging a new boat? I am looking at getting a front mount trolling motor, two basic graphs, one with gps, couple batteries and an onboard charger. First time looking at a new boat and am pretty excited.
    Thanks Dream’n

If you fish walleye make sure to just get the 9.9 trolling motor when you buy the boat.

    A couple of thoughts…

My bow mount trolling motor was a refurbished Minnkota that cost me $400. I saved a lot of money there.

The bow mount depth finder is my FL8 with the “summer kit”. I already had it for ice fishing.

Batteries have gotten more expensive so I don’t see any way around that. Figure $100 each.

Last spring I installed a dual bank onboard charger, a Minnkota 210D. It was about $150.

The depth finder in the stern is a Humminbird 788CI. Gander had them on sale for about $500 when I got it.

So it wasn’t inexpensive to rig up but I think I could have done a lot worse ($$$) too.

Your list says 3-4k to me w/o a kicker just for the goods.

Get both gps capable graphs, that way you still have one if there are issues with the other.

You could also steal a bunch of stuff from Billy’s boat, he never uses it anyway

Your list sounds about like what my dad did, which if memory serves me right I think it ran around 4000-4500 or so installed by dealer. That was 80 terrova with I-pilot, Elite 5x at bow, HDS7 with S.S. at console, batteries, 2 bank charger. He spent more money on other stuff too, custom travel cover, extra seats few other things I don’t remember.

On the flip side, I bought a used boat last summer and my upgrade budget is at about 6000 (and climbing) and I’m putting it all in myself, but I’m getting a little fancier stuff too (Hbird 1199 going at console, getting the i-pilot link upgrade for my terrova among the other stuff)

Flush mount rod holders are nice (X4). If you’re buying new you’ll need probably two more chairs. A paddle. I would sure miss my Wave Wackers. I’m sure there’s more!

I bought my first new boat in 2012.
I really did my homework in identifying
    how I fish
    and where I fish.
I then matched the boat to those requirements.
    I added the must haves
    before the wants
    and would be nice.

I have done some upgrades since to address those
situations that only occur a couple of times a season.

I cant get my “perfect” fishing boat as the wife and kids have an opinion! Eyekatcher I do agree on getting the must haves now. Rootski I think he would notice if he saw his equipment on the other side of the dock!
