What did you use for your interior lights?
I put a bead of silicone along each side of the LED strip to water proof them. Light Strip
March 11, 2013 at 4:38 pm #1150830Well – the boat project is coming to a close – 2 more boards to cut, a couple hinges to secure and she will be water ready.
Second to last session started with some Johnnie Walker:
Console is done, installed a foot controlled tilt/trim switch for the tiller motor:
New toy installed – this ram mount sit so high it’s almost at eye level! Sweet!
Live well is the last project – Tuesday sounds like the day it should be complete.. See you on the water soon!
When I’m done am going to see if I can put a slideshow together of the whole build – should be cool.
March 11, 2013 at 5:11 pm #1150853Congrats on the biuld. Been fun watching the progress. Cheers on the Johnny Walker!

March 12, 2013 at 12:39 pm #1151152Very nice boat. Hope to get a chance to see that thing on the water someday.
March 14, 2013 at 2:57 pm #1151946Project started December 15th – Project Complete March 13th, not to bad in my book!
Picture heavy post – wheel bearings done on the trailer, all other accessories added, boat complete and water ready! ENJOY!
March 14, 2013 at 4:58 pm #1152001I love the lights might have to look into something like this for night trolling.
Do you run an extra battery to power them?
March 14, 2013 at 5:01 pm #11520043 Batteries.
One for the Humminbird.
One for the Motor and cig lighters.
One for all the other accessories (lights, bilge, recirc, etc)March 17, 2013 at 11:07 pm #1153140I’m very impressed with the job. I rebuilt a competitor’s aluminum boat and know how much work and thought goes into the project. Now, get out and enjoy it! Yahoo!

This post is an inspiration to anyone (including myself) who would like to do even the small modifications and upgrades themselves.
April 25, 2013 at 12:06 pm #1165737Jakob, you rocked this boat out! Wow, I saw the boat up at Rainy, and thought it was awesome, really cool to come to IDO and see this post with all the work you did to get it into the condition I saw it. My man you did a great job, I was noticing the lights you had at night, that is such an awesome idea. I put a floor in mine, but nothing compared to the work you did. Hopefully I’ll get an invite to fish with ya someday; and I’ll buy the Johnnie.
Hard work pays off, great job. Now get up to Rainy this weekend and put a 60″+ sturgeon in it!

I have an older Alumacraft Backtroller that looks identical to your boat except for the fact I have an after market console added into mine. I’ve been toying with the idea of doing something like this to my boat. I discovered a couple of soft spots in the floor last year and would love to enlarge the front deck a bit and add some additional storage and lighting. How much did your project cost roughly?
I’m not sure where your located but did you have any issues doing that over the winter? Did you have a heated workspace to do this in? I live in Wisconsin and would have to do this in an unheated garage.
Thanks
May 24, 2019 at 8:35 am #1858604Just saw this, outstanding work. This looks really great, can I ask where did you buy that specific vinyl?
