Well I am about halfway through the rebuild an thought I would update my progress to you all.

The original plan was to just replace the carpet with Vinyl.

That is still the plan but it has become a much bigger project now. Once we stripped the foam we ran into 7 pin holes that were visible that needed patching.

After patching we water tested by filling the boat with water and also turned the lights off in the garage with a big spot light underneath the boat to check for more leaks; we found a couple more as well that have since been patched.

After the patching was complete we layed PVC piping for the wiring, the wiring will be inside the PVC for an extra water resistant.

Next on the list was sanding all areas we were going to be applying new paint to. The original thought was to use bed liner, boy was I wrong.

    We primed the boat.

After priming we were ready for bed liner.

Bed Liner has been applied to the bottom of the boat after I decided it didn’t look right for the sides (this should provide some extra sealant as well).

We started painting the interior last night – it is turning out great! I absolutely love the color.

Next on the list is to rewire the boat after the second coat of paint.

I will keep you guys updated to the progress, but wow – what a fun project!

I agree awesome job. When I refurbished our houseboat we used this stuff called Coal Cat or something like that prior to the final paint. It was expensive but worth it on the old steel. It never leaked a drop for 6 years when I sold it.

Nice job! I like the second picture where your partner is wanting to get closer to get his spot pickd out.

Wow, looks great so far I am sure you have put a great deal of effort into it.

Just wondering about the “pin holes” though…How do you think they got there?? From the picture they looked pretty big and must have leaked quit a bit.

I got the boat last year from my brother in law – so could have been many things that created the pin holes, however, we also had a couple “O sh*#” moments this year. Specifically I remember taking a wing dam head on, on p4…

I would say I had to run the pump every 30 minutes to flush out the system – hopefully that will be gone now!

Second coat of paint on. Second coat of bed liner on the bottom of the boat. I am still really liking the smoke grey color.

Played a little with the live well over the last couple days, got the lights installed.

One other thing about your rebuilding. If something breaks down you will be you’re own go to guy for repairs!

Sure I can’t talk you into re-carpeting MY boat?

Well – When you are at a standstill – it’s time to bring out the big guns.

A HUGE thanks to fisherdave for spending the evening with me on the boat. He was able to come over at 5:45 PM and we all left right around 2 am.

I’m going to let the pictures do the talking:

Another night of great progress! Thanks again Dave!

    Ok – here we go:

Template for securing the front deck:

Front HID’s installed and front floor secured:

Better shots of the front floor secured:

Full floor secured and all deck lighting on:

    Seat mount’s in place:

    Sanded side panels:

    Primed side panels:

Paint will go on the side panels today, then it’s just installing the rest of the compartments and getting the electrical correct.

Been a little time since my last update, we were having some problems with my new design of the cabinets.

Before the side cabinet only had a hinge for about half the cabinet, that has since been changed, now the whole cabinet opens and I am debating if I want to keep it for general storage or convert it to a rod locker.

Lights installed in the cabinet for easy viewing at night, tape measure going to be installed on the back side:

Right side compartment is painted and ready for install tonight.
