Was able to jump into a competitor the other day and was looking at the front storage compartments. I have always stored my anchor in the front storage comp on my boats. But the competitor doesn’t seem to have any solid bottom on their front storage compartments. Wondering where others keep their anchor in these boats.

I use an anchor probably 20% of the time. But always want it in the boat in case troube happens and I don’t want to be washed into rocks etc.

What model year was the Competitor that you looked at?

I have a 2012, and there is one front storage compartment (the not-so-dry dry storage). That compartment uses the same bin that the front livewell uses. So it is pretty sturdy.

I know that the 2013 Competitors have more storage compartments in the front, but don’t know how they have lined them.

For the brief time I used my competitor I would keep it in the portside compartment in front of the cooler if I really wanted it in the boat. This is on a 2012 model and did not trust how sturdy the bottoms of the front compartments are.

It was a 2012. Been working with the insurance on boat replacement and the front “dry” storage is the only thing I question as I would be moving from a navigator.
I would have to get a 2013 to get the motor I want on the back, so curious what the changes are for the 2013 model since the dealer didn’t indicate that there were any changes made.

I can tell you right now that Alumacraft will not even know the changes even when they are making them. They seem to “wing it” and use what is around so don’t get your heart set on what is showed in the catalog.

What motor are you wanting to get that is not avaiable prior to 2013?

looking at a 150 merc proxs. The dealers are trying to get rid of the current inventory and already have yamaha 4 strokes on the back. Since the controls and gauges are different it is not an easy swap especially since they do not have the motor in stock.

Not set on going back to alumacraft, still working the options.

Wes, I know this isn’t what you are trying to do but it’s a thought. I keep my anchor on the front deck of my boat. I always use the rope to tie up to docks. I keep mine on a Frisbee, yep the kind you throw. It keeps the mud and crud off the carpet and also, anchors will rust over time. It prevents that rust from getting on the carpet. Mine doesn’t slide around at all but if it did a strip of Velcro on the carpet and another on the Frisbee will keep it from sliding around.

Just a thought on a cloudy day.
