Hi everyone, recently purchased a 2010 modle 175 Dominator Sport. I love this boat, my problem though is that I have too many rods over 7′ long for the center council. I was thikning of using the space on the left hand gunnal to build some sort of tube rod stoarge where I could fit 4-6 more 7′ rods. I currently just have them all laying on the bottom of that storage but was thikning of building something so they all have their own tube….Anyone else do this, if so would you mind sharing some pics….Thanks

Forget the rod tubes. Just get rod socks, and you will be good to go. And will be able to fit more rods too.

I like my rod tube instead of socks. The socks offer almost “0” protection in my opinion. Post a picture or two of your storage area and I might have an idea that might work. I have built in rod tubes on my starboard side of my 1825 ProGuide and love them….. by the way they are 8′ long too!

What do you need protection from that socks won’t give you? They are already in a locker. Try carrying 20 rods in a locker with tubes some time. If you only carry a few rods at a time, tubes are fine. If you need to carry rods for you and a few other guys, and carry rods for multiple applications, you need all the space you can get, and tubes just waste space IMHO. It all depends on what you need, and what you like.

I will say that I have never busted a rod using socks and have not damaged any reels either.

I like the idea of socks, but that would be exactly what I am doing right now, that offer no protection on my rods and reels when I am in rough conditions….Maybe tubes wouldnt be the best idea, I like the protection an security that they offer though, I dont have any pics at this moment, if you are fimiliar with the Dominator model, they have a big open space in the side, I have the 2010, the year before they added the top sorage…

My 2005 185 tourny sport has rod tubes stock built in the passenger side gunnal, you may be able to get this from alumacraft and install? I am disappointed in my center rod storage because the tubes are so small the last eyelet on my spinning rods will not allow the rod to go in far enough to allow the handle to go in on the rear part.
