Steering Cable Help

My steering cable broke yesterday on my Navigator. Anyone ever replaced a cable before? Can you replace just the inner cable or do you have to replace the cable/housing assembly? I don’t want to pull the cable out if I have to replace it as an assembly and if I do pull it out I would think I would want to tie something on to fish the new one back thru. I guess I’ll do some surfing and probably hit the dealer Monday. Thanks for any advice.

I replaced mine a few years ago. I believe the brand was teleflex. Mine included the steering hub and cable. Taking the old one out and replacing the new one was an hour job. Not a big deal for my boat (Lund Tyee). They come as a cable with housing.
