    Who’s watching? Who wins?

Again, surprised to see one guy out so early on day 3.

I watched a bit of it. I was surprised when Jim tapped.

Callie seems a little weird but hey, that might be what it takes to win. I’m pretty sure she will be the only one to build a chair before day 3.

One thought I had, if I planned on staying for any amount of time, I would start immediately building a trapper shack or at least a yurt. Day 1 would be my temp shelter, day 2-10 would be building my permanent structure, while I have the strength. Those with the attitude of “living” there, go much farther than those trying to eek out a minimal existence and beat the clock.

Just caught last half of show so dont know all the contestants. I completely get missing the family and everyday grind. Think we get those things so in gained in our solves that it can be almost like air. Dont usually think much about them but take it away and life comes crashing down.

Not sure who Im for yet. Glad the show is back and new location.

    #1655796

I love the show, I think the key to it is to stay busy doing something, either building something or trapping, I think the board em would drive me crazy if I couldn’t find something to do.

Just got done watching the second episode. I must say first off that their trying to find equitable locations failed miserably. Fowler got seriously shafted with that 2,600′ mountain he has to climb to get to a fishing lake. Insanity.

And Mr. PMA tapping after 3 days. His students are going to walk by him in the halls and tap their legs. Man that guy was right when he said thousands of people wanted his spot and he tapped.

    Damn, second out… doah

The pre-drop interview on him looked good. He mentioned being out alone for 30 days. But not getting any food for 6-7 days will catch up with you in a hurry.

Was that the guy who made the fish trap. Which ever guy that was with the fish trap he is on his way out.

Thinking the loner from Colorado might make a good go of this.

As mentioned above, the key is staying busy. Hunt, trap, work. Human nature is to be social. I did almost 2 months in the mountains in colorado. Not easy to be isolated when your accustomed to social activities.

I would love to be on this show if I was able to bring my trapping gear, winter gear, and enough insulated tarps to build a 16′ yurt

So, if there is no camera crew or anybody monitoring on a daily basis, what happens if somebody doesn’t shoot enough video or does a bad job shooting? I can’t believe they gather up video cards only after a person taps.

Think they do med checks every few days. Might be daily phone check ins also. Thought I seen where they went through camera/video training before starting the challenge to.

Im guessing the contestants must be given a heads up on where they are going to so they can prep for it.

I like the older dry wall guy from Canada’s chances. Did I miss where being a Wilderness/Bushcraft Teacher was a legitimate career choice? Seems that is half these hippies “careers” and then they can’t survive over a week on the show. That cut that caused Zach to tap, looked pretty minimal and a good excuse to leave. If it were super gory they would have shown it more, like the lady last year. I agree with you guys in success depending on building a legitimate home, and overcoming boredom/monotony.

Dutchboy they have to come in and swap out cards/equipment fairly often, or they have the greatest batteries and memory cards created.

Just silly, I have been yelling at the TV- “Start eating those fish man! Hunger is making you weak and stupid!” If he would have eaten those fish, instead of planning on one filet every other day, he would probably have had the energy to catch some more or find some other food for later! And still be in the fight.

Starting to feel like Im watching Hippies in the woods. Was hoping to see at least someone take down a pig. Not a chance that is going to happen now unless that one gal can call one in with her drum and it kills itself once she starts singing. Was impressed seeing her tan that hide. To the only guy left man up a little and represent. You are competing against two gals and crying over roots. The wind muddied up your shoreline and you needed to move those poles. Thats just fishing 101.

Had thought the bush eating gal was going to take this until she cracked a tooth on a plant. Guys not finding food. That leaves the drummer girl til the end. Thats the way i see it.

Carrots… they taste like carrots. “Cry cry Cry”. I respect him for having an awsome shelter and a dock, but I hope the girl from Alaska wins personally. She is pretty smart and head strong. I’ve noticed that they all research the previous seasons faults and successes. Which has progressively lengthened the days spend in the bush every season, so I’m excited for this show to progress into a possibility of a contestant staying up to a year.

I thought the hippie that was trying to buy her land was going to take the hole thing. She fought through the infected spider bite, was continuously gathering edible plants, was catching fish consistently, had a well thought out shelter, and then decided to go home because she felt her purpose was fulfilled???? Wow!

Each season there has been a contestant doing very well and clearly able to be alone and survive, then out of the blue they decide I’ve had enough and walk away Healthy and Happy.

Can’t believe they pulled Carleigh! Not sure how much longer Fowler would have lasted?? Or rather they should have done the med checks on the same day/time. Wonder if Fowler would have passed?

It seemed to me they did the med check both contestants the same day. I think with 2 contestants left they should have left Carleigh in the game! She seemed fine. Fowler was definitely wavering mentally.

This was the first season I watched. Does the spouse always come out at the end? How does that work? Does she jump a flight from Maine to Argentina the minutes Carleigh was out or was she hanging out down there for weeks waiting to see what happens???
