In 2 days from right now I am headed to the farm for 9 straight day of deer hunting. A solid week of sitting in the stand with the bow, followed by not so serious 2 days of rifle hunting. I much prefer to get them with the bow, but deer camp with family and guns is always a blast too.
From what I am seeing and hearing, the pre-rut/chase mode is really picking up. Last weekend on the way home I saw more dead deer on the road than I have for a long time. 2 of them were 2.5 year old or better bucks. The young guys have been running around for a little while now, but I really expect the big boys to get in the game very soon. In fact, I plan to sit tonight at home to see just how things are doing there.
The stage is set and I can’t concentrate on work at all this week. Cold fronts pushing thru, barometer rising, north winds…it’s all coming together.
Good luck to all hunting next week before the orange army and those in the orange army next weekend. It’s a very exciting time of the year boys and girls
