Looking for recommendations for some where to get away for 4-6 days and enjoy the Ocean and other outings near the resort. Would prefer more of an adult crowd. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hyatt Ziva’s are awesome. We stayed at Ocean Blue in Punta Cana in the Dominican and that was a little dated but still nice.

We stayed at the Sandals Resort in Barbados. I don’t see us finding any all-inclusive places that will top it. You name it for food, activities, water sports, top shelf liquor…and nobody will accept a dime as a tip. We didn’t carry any cash on us and never felt the need to on the resort. You also have access to all of the “Sandals Royal” facilities and restaurants as well for no cost.

Might want to check the travel advisories for Mexico before hand. Some very popular tourist areas like Acapulco, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta are now listed as DO NOT TRAVEL by the State Department.

Any of the Barcelos, or Riu’s in Playa Del Carmen are awesome cant go wrong. Catalonia Royal Tulum was great too little smaller complex, still awesome.. adult only.
The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort is probably my favorite. Just seems to edge out the other and has great snorkeling right out front. Bring a banana or 2 from breakfast and thousands of fish swarm you to have a bite. Pretty neat.

We attended a wedding at Secrets St James in Montego Bay a few years back and really enjoyed it; top shelf liquor and very good food, great staff, excellent pools and beach, geared toward adults. We had preferred club status during our stay (free upgrade from the B&G) and it was great. It’s also located near the cruise ship port so not a lot of other resorts near by but we thought that was a good thing.

    Riu – Paradise Island Bahamas
    Atlantis – same

Both right next door to each other so we stayed at the cheaper RIU all inclusive and we were allowed to go to the casino and comedy club etc at the Atlantis out of pocket. Took the ferry to Nassau – big waste of time –

Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe ? I think that was what it was called- riviera Maya , Mexico. All inclusive

We had our best vacations at those but I’d never go again to Mexico until they fix the problems with tourists getting killed.

I prefer to go to Florida for vacations anymore. Clearwater Beach is probably our favorite now, since we can no longer justify the crazy prices in key west.

Riu Palace Pacifico in Puerto Vallarta has been our favorite in Mexico so far. Great rooms, great beach, great food and drink (liquor bottles with nozzles in your room), and great excursions for all ages. We had an absolute blast in Puerto Vallerta. I use to think the same way as Thomas above does. However after going there a few times I’ve never felt unsafe at anytime. On or off the resort.

That being said, Thomas, Clearwater Beach is our favorite place in FL. I’m heading there at the end of the month!

It’s been a few years but the last time we were in Cancun we stayed at an Iberostar. Loved it. Not to big and not to small. Big enough for decent food choices and never crowded around the pool or beach. We were there 5 nights.

Been enjoying Secrets for a few years. Not cheap but classy, foods good & privacy available.

Good luck. Lots of fun choices. Find what fits your idea of fun

    Cabo!
To me it kinda felt like So. Cal.
World class fishing. We stayed at The Pacifica, adults only. So no little brats running around. Highly recommend.

Iberostar Grand Rose Hall Montego Bay Jamaica.

We have been to 17 all inclusive resorts all over Mexico and the Caribbean during our 20 years of marriage. We always go in January, always adults only, and always 4 or 5 star ratings. We never go back to the same place because we like to experience different places. This one is the exception. We have been here 3 times. It is truly INCREDIBLE, and we have been lucky to see some spectacular places. This one is definitely worth it. Just our opinion from our experience.

RIU, Iberostar, have on site daycare so…. for Adults only, I like Secrets. As far as best overall experience, Booze, Food, Golf, water things to do, I would have to say Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana… stay Royal.

X2 on the Hyatt Ziva’ stayed at the one in Los Cabos, it was very nice. I prefer the west side of Mexico. The Tuna fishing was awesome as well.

Sandals Resorts in Jamaica are nice, we did our honeymoon there.

We are going in 2 weeks to Cancun. Family trip though, we have never been there so tried to pick an all inclusive place with stuff for our young boys and a nice beach. Ended up going with Seadust Family Resort. Under 4,000$ for plane tickets and resort, 6 days. Hopefully it is an OK place.
We plan on checking out the Xcaret park one of the days, seems like a lot to do there.

The Barcelo Maya Palace in Puerto Aventuras is awesome. Plus it is super close to the marina and the good fishing is close to shore.

For 4-6 days, very difficult to find much better and easier than the all-inclusive in the Playa del Carmen area. Flight of almost exactly 4 hours, plenty of direct flights, 30 to 60 minutes shuttle and you’re there.

We’ve done a bunch of different resorts and they were all either good or great. As mentioned the Riu resorts are good, just be sure you understand that there is a difference in the levels of the various Riu properties, so some are farther from the beach and are good but not top end.

The Grand Princess was awesome with young kids. H10 resorts are great as well.

Top tip I can give is most resorts offer a “concierge” upgrade that gets you access to private “concierge” areas like a dedicated area on the beach, dedicated concierge level pool, first choice of restrauant reservations before the rest of the resort can reserve, private bar/beach club area, etc. Some resorts even have a concierge-only restaurant.

All I can say is do it when it comes to this upgrade. We do it every time and it has ALWAYS been worth it in terms of time saved, better experience, no waiting in line, no getting up with the Germans at 4 AM to put towels out to hog the best beach lounge spots, etc, etc. Absolutely upgrade to this level.
