Just returned from a chartered salmon fishing trip from Algoma. Seven fish in two days for four guys. Pretty slow. Fished the lake from 80 feet to 200 looking for the kings. A bad day fishing is still better than a good day working.

We went out 7 times fishing the KD out of Kewaunee in the 9 days. We were targeting big kings. We stayed away from the hot bite that was in the 75-95 fow that was giving up a lot of 8-15 lb fish. We had a great time. The weather was great! The only day I couldnt get out was Wednesday. We ended the week going 30/39. With mostly kings, 3 rainbows and 2 lakers One laker was over 20 lbs. We are going to watch the facebook post tonight. We are hoping to crack the top 15 with a nice king over 21 lbs. With the crazy cold water some of the kings just go crazy when they hit your tackle. It was not uncommon to hear guys only getting half of the fish that were hookup. Good luck rest of season. Time for me to hit the walleyes.

With the full moon, the day bite can be slow. For the 1st time we pulled two all nighters fishing from 8-5am. It was definitely productive but it was by no means lights out. An evening flurry and then it was one here and there. Lots of missed bites. Blue glow spoons better than those that glow green. Fish came in the top 50 with 5 color the stud rods. Driving was tiring trying to figure out where boats were headed. Some crazy things happened that could only be explained by tired fishermen and likely with too much to drink. We took turns sleeping which helped. Was it worth it? Yes if you are hard core like me and enjoy bringing a very full cooler to the cleaning table. Was it relaxing,…not really. Its what you want from your fishing experience.
