Ok Chris, I have some great fishing around here in Alexandria, but your posts are pretty incredible Keep the posts comin Chris!

Now for a quick report on the Alexandria area.

Walleye, Crappie, Sunfish… everything has been biting!

I’ve been finding my sunfish and crappies in 12-18 FOW. They are holding to almost any structure they can find in that depth: cabbage, dense weed lines, sunken timber or rock piles. They’ve been hitting a 1/32oz white Lindy Little Nipper under a float. Set your float so the jig is just above the structure. Then drift or troll your rig slowly over the area, giving the lure short 6″ pulls will usually entice a strike.

As for the walleye bite, not much has changed there. The fish are still holding in good number right on the outside weed edges. Pulling a spinner rig or Lindy rig with a leech or a crawler will both put fish in the boat. Being the fish are so tight to the weeds, boat control is defiantly key.

    Good luck

Very nice fish and happy customers Joe. It’s been over a year since I’ve been to your neck of the woods. Mille Lacs has been too good for me to leave, but do miss the other opportunities that the Alexandria area has to offer.
    Nice work!

Ben, I’ll have more than one good spot picked out for ya In fact I think once I start posting pics this Fall, I just might get you to come back up for the day. The fishing in the Fall is unbelievable and will most certainly be worth your time

Fireline, ya I fish Miltona throughout the year. It’s a fun lake to fish because it’s “hard” to fish. There is a ton of structure out there for the fish to hide. There are so many steep breaks out there I’d recommend finding a nice weed line with a fishable flat contour. Then rig your standard leech or crawler along the outside weed edge. The average sized fish out there is a little on the small side. There are a good number of 12″-13.5″, which will be keepers in a couple years. There also some very nice eating fish out there too, 15″-18″, but they’ll be much harder to find. Good luck if you go
