    Hey Joe!!

Have to believe that ice has pretty much left most of the Alexandria area fisheries. Do you expect a lot of big walleyes to be rolling come fishing opener timeframe due to our early spring??

He must be to busy fishing so I will answer part of that question. The Alexandria area is ice free. As for the second part. None of our lakes have walleyes…

deertracker had it right, I was fishing. I’ve been up in your neck of the woods on the Rainy for the last couple days. Wow, was the fishing incredible!

To answer your question Chris, the walleye have been in the creeks here for the past couple weeks. I would imagine over the next few weeks we’ll start seeing some incidental walleye action while crappie fishing. When opener finally comes around the walleye fishing will be in full swing.

I’d imagine you’re experiencing a similar scenario in your area?

I believe the Walleye spawning cycle is a couple weeks ahead of schedule statewide. My guess that is good and bad news for anglers across the state. Here I consider it to be good as those big fish should be snapping. Keep after them Joe!!
