Gonna be out in Brooten visiting the in-laws and was wondering if anyone is doing anything night trolling on Reno, Minnewaska, other lakes in the area? I’ll be there Thursday through Sunday. Thanks for any and all info!

Thanks for the PM sir! I noticed you live in Moundsview. I was born in Moundsview almost 44 years ago and moved to Cambridge when I was 4…….. God I’m getting old.

Well plans change. I didn’t get out for much of a night bite. I did hear that jigs and minnows in about 14 ft off the points was killing the walleyes on Minnewaska; but I was unable to get out at night except for the early morning. Only managed one 15″ ‘eye trolling shallow while it was dark. When it got light out I switched gears and trolled the deeper green weeds in 10-16’ and started pounding the bass and northerns.

No big ones but lots of fun anyway. Natural colors like black/grey or blue chrome seemed to be the ticket. Not a bite on clown or firetiger or any other bright colors. 1.5 mph seemed to be the speed the bass and northerns wanted. Water temp was 42 degrees. Thanks bass and northerns for turning a skunk into a hoot!

    PS I still prefer walleyes.
