The walleye bite has been quite good for late July and tonight was no exception. We concentrated our efforts on slip bobbering the shallow cabbage areas in 12-15fow during the day and outside weed edges in 18-24fow during the low light periods. I find this a little odd because normally I fish shallower and shallower as the evening wears on.
My best lure for slip bobbering has been a green and black 1/32oz jig. I tip it with a lively leech and set it 2-6 feet off the bottom. The fish have been pretty tight to the cabbage, so once you find the cabbage you should find fish.
Once the fish have slowed down in the shallower areas. I’ve been checking the outside weed edges in 18-24fow. These fish are easy to read and have been taking a lively leech on Lindy rig quite well.
These are really the only two presentations I’ve needed to use all July. If you’d like a slightly more in depth explanation of what I’ve been doing check out my last report.
Thanks and Good luck everyone!
