With the nice weather the past couple days the crappie bite has been down right on fire. We have been finding most of our crappie in the shallow bays, 4-6 FOW. The water temp in these bays has been around 42-43deg. A small hair jig and a twister tail or minnow under a float is all that has been needed. 12-13″ fish have been very common. We boated well over 60 crappie in the afternoon and we had two many quality doubles to count.
I’d like to remind everyone that these fish are very vulnerable this time of year, so please just keep enough to eat. If we carefully release the larger females we should be able to enjoy this quality fishing for many years to come. Now get out there with your kids and have a great time!
