I was browsing a local news station website (WJON St. Cloud) and saw that they are adding a fishing team to the sports program. First one in the State. Joe Secura was pictured on the article. Didnt mention his name but guessing he is a big part if it. Thats pretty awesome that they are adding fishing and Joe is a part of it, if he is. Maybe he will chime in if he is. Too bad this wasnt an option when i was in college but congrates Joe on what should be a great oppurtunity and experience.

I believe Winona State has one but it’s a recognized student club by the university (gets a small budget) and not an official sport. Glad to see this and hopefully it becomes more common!

Bass fishing is growing like crazy at both the High school and college level. Some of the great new fishermen fishing the BASS Elites and Opens fished at the HS or College level. I think it is a Great thing. Not every kid is interested in athletics and anything that gives kids a purpose and direction is great.
