Water is sitting around 76-78 in most area lakes. Haven’t found much of a pattern, mostly just cover ground and pick them off. Shad raps, and shallower floating raps at 3.5 mph seem to trigger a few at night.

Any one else finding active fish before 9PM?

Glad you got a few. I pulled lead last week on a lake I usually do well on in July. Could not find the schools of perch to save my life. Usually when you find them, you pull crappies and walleyes.

Will be out around Battle lake this weekend and report back. That grilled fish looks awesome, do those fillets hold up with the skin off?

Had ok luck on waska targeting individual marks power corking jumbo leeches last weekend. half of those marks were big bass, the other half were walleye. Too much boat traffic around my favorite stretches of weedline so I spent my time out on the flats.

Glenwood had their “Waterama” last weekend so the lake was crazy. We only cruised and tubed. Nice to hear you still found a few.

The zippered filet halves held up well, just have to be tender flipping them.

Hoping the new moon next week gets them a bit more fired up. About to pull out the lead too.

Fall bite has been steady the past couple weeks. With the Hunters Moon on Wednesday, looking forward to motoring around Otter Tail tomorrow night. Water temps are around 55-58 on most lakes, and shiners have been the bait of choice. Fish are shallow and easy pickin’s with SI. Still hoping to poke an upper 20’s fish.

I was up in the area for cabin maintenance and pheasant hunting over the weekend & wader fished friday night after the wind died down a little. I didn’t start fishing until nearly 9:30, but still got a few. Guy next to me cracked a really skinny 29″ eye; it was all head and no girth at all. He kept it.

Jig & minnow bite has been really good on the usual suspects. Waska, Reno, etc. Noticed a lot of guys pulling cranks in the moonlight saturday night too.

Reno has been dead since July for me. I hear grumblings from others about the same. I should get back out there soon and see whats up. Shallow, turbid waters are typically good bites right about now.

I always had success on Reno pulling cranks at night in 3-6 feet of water up shallow. I have heard the bite up there has been rough this year

My dad’s cousin on Reno said this weekend “15 minute bite window in the morning, maybe 30 minutes in the evening.” He’s a classic MN live bait kind of guy and fishes the same spots all the time though regardless of what lake he’s on. Not even sure the guy owns any crankbaits.
