Had a chance to make it up to BSL to try to catch the elusive Tullibee’s and Crappies. My buddy (Doug) and I, got on the lake at 9:00am. We were greeted with temps at 8 degrees. Later that day it did make it to 28 degrees. We managed to catch 20 crappies, keeping 12 of them. Most of the crappies were in the 11″ to 13″ category. The key to finding these fish was to be on the move, jumping from hole to hole. Lemon-lime Fat Boys’s were the best lure tipped with a waxy. No tullibees were caught. The warmer weather should really trigger these fish – the mayfly larvae will start to rise from the mud basins.
