I will be up at the cabin this weekend with a buddy who we call Crappie Barty. I would like to get out with him and see if we can get a few of these going. Any suggestions on which lake could produce this around the Mille Lacs area?
I could use some general directions also. The big pond is about my only lake experience around these parts.
Can you help me Bobber and Derek?

My neighbors have caught some crappies on Clear Lake (just north of Glen) this summer. They have caught more sunnies than crappies…… Dman there are a few in my our harbor, but they are off limits for anyone to fishing!!!!!!!!!

i used to do really good at clear and also sugar lake, if you can find about 6 -8 ft of water and toss out a minow on a white glow-in-the-dark ice fishing jig, that usually does the best for me, also have had good luck on the green ones also. but they must glow. i don’t know why, but i have had numerous crappies in the boat using them jigs. I get them from the fleet farm on highway 169 and 85th, in brooklyn park. wish you the best of luck!!!

We started Saturday at Clearlake, we tried everything and eneded with 6 crappies for the day. We headed over to lone lake to see what was a happening….(NOTHING) back to Clearlake as we had a spot we wanted to be on for the evening bite. Well as luck would have it, there was a boat right on the spot when we got back and we did witness them pulling in a few Crappies. We took our backup spot and caught a few also. It was a slow day that’s for sure. We tried about everything you van think of in twelve hrs it just wasnt happening. Water temp was 75.5 on both lakes.
Both lakes are very clean. I will be back again to Clearlake for Crappies, I am not so sure about that Lone lake, That one didn’t feel right to me.

Dman. Give that long lake a try just north of clear a few miles. Trolling small baits around the drop offs until you find a few crappies and then go back and hit them a little harder. I would think you might find the deep water of this lake interisting. If there is not much boat traffic you might find a nice eye or two trolling over the deep water for suspended fish. I grew up on this lake and sure do miss it.
