Good job.. Lone walleyes usually bite better at night or on cloudy days. The water is very clear.

Clear and Lone Lakes are by far the cleanest, clearest lakes in this area. Lone Lake has a nice swiming beach also for the family……..

A couple of other nice lakes in that area are long lake and dam lake. Both have eyes. Long is a sleeper lake for lots of bass. Dam might be better for eyes since lone is over 100 feet deep. If you take some time to learn long it is most likely the better of the 2 for fishing.
    Good luck

I grew up in the township of kimberly, just between aitkin and mcgregor, I was wondering what damn lake and lone or long lake you where refering to. I have fished them lakes since i was about 12 years old. if these are the lakes that you are speaking of, then they must have had alot of help over the last couple of years, anything that we caught up there was tiny or wormy!!

I used to fish damn lake becuase i lived over that way, the only thing I caught in that lake was sunnies. lone or long lake, across the street, i used to swim in that lake. never fished it though, and never really seen alot of boats on that lake fishing it, even on the weekends.

    Derek,

then the lake must had alot of help over the years. I havent’ diped a line into it for a few years. I usually went to portage lake over by the spring that came in and did well there for crappies and sunnies. I used to catch some big ones off of that lake, and besides it was closer to home when i didn’t have a car.

    thanks

The reason I like long lake better than dam is the fact of less boat traffic. It has been alot of years since I gotten to spend any time on these lakes. Had a fish house on dam from about 95 to 95. My buddies still put it out there in the winter time but I only get to use it once and a great while.
Shane. I grew up on the west end of long. Aitkin class of 87. To many memories on these lakes.

I graduated the class of 91′ and i used to live out in the kimberly township. I used to swim and fish at these lakes. I knew them well, but then again, when i was a little kid, fishing from the shore line sucked, only got the tator chiped sunnies. I might have to bring the boat up there and try to find them and hit em hard.
