Your right people you have a right to keep 5 10″ sunfish so you can go to work on monday and brag to your buddies….. Now spend the next 10 minutes on the internet and research the damage you just did to the population… Keep (5) 8″ sunfish and take pictures of the 10″ers…

Who goes fishing for sunfish if you can only keep 5? Sounds like it may have been a better idea to go with maybe a 10 fish limit with no fish over 9″.

Conservation minded fishermen who respect the fishery? I know another lake with a 5 fish limit and it’s great. I’ll keep 5 < 9″ fish. That’s enough. There are plenty of other lakes in the state where you can keep 10 or is it 15? I don’t know, because I never keep more than half a dozen and they are never frozen.

IMO there’s no other species that gets wrecked more for sizable fish than sunfish.

Word gets out on big pannies and that lake will have a full parking lot until they are gone. Makes me sick.

There are a few of us who are working pretty darned hard to get a 5 sunfish, 5 crappie limit put in place on a local lake down here. We couldn’t talk the dnr into a slot size, so we’ll settle for their help in getting the limits cut to 5 of each.
