I have been using Shimano Sedona’s for over 10 years and they are great, but they are now priced in the $60-70 range…
I have been using the President reels on the ice for a handful of years and I like them. They would be in your price range, like Mocha said. I’m sure some others will chime in on a couple others (Okuma maybe?). A couple of my old Sedonas are wearing out and I am also in the market for a few and want to keep my options open.
Pflueger President is a no-brainer… if you want something with a slightly faster retrieve rate (and a little lighter weight) you can look in the same family at a Pflueger Supreme. More expensive but as noted above there are some sales going on. If in doubt, go with the Prez all day long…
Used the 20% off gander deal and picked up 3 presidents and 2 okuma cold water line counter reels. Saved $100 and got free shipping. Sweet like buttermilk!
Presidents are good but if you plan on fishing very cold temps the anti reverse seems to fail on them. Nothing like going to set the hook on a big pre spawn walleye and having the spool back spin on you.
Still pretty decent reel for the price. Ive been switching over shimano.
Scheels will have Plunger purist on sale occasionally for around $50 and a little better reel then the president. I have these on quite a few of my rods and thy never fail, very good in the cold too.
