Aerator Pump Disassembly

Does anyone know how to take the yellow top off of this style Mayfair aerator pump?

That’s not an aerator pump, that’s a bilge pump.

But anyways try holding the bottom black strainer and rotating the yellow top counterclockwise slightly. Should just be like a 1/10th of a turn and you’ll feel a click and you’ll then be able to separate them.

Thanks, Munchy. I have this type in the bilge and for aerators. Sorry for the confusion. The picture was just copied off the internet so I could show what I was asking. I appreciate your help and will give it a twist to see if I can get it apart.

I tried turning the top and I cannot get it to budge. Maybe I am just too weak? I think I will just tear it out along with the valve and then have a look at it.

There may be a clip or button you need to push or pry out of the way.
