Get one of those beer helmets. That makes it much more enjoyable and you don’t care if you miss a spot.

Push mower or rider Sharon? The thing that makes a push mower hard is if the handle isn’t adjusted correctly it becomes harder to push. If it needs adjusting ask dad to come over and do it. Otherwise pick up a self propelled, they make it easier also.

Ya know, back in the day grin when you were just a little tyke a person could hire the neighbor kid to mow the grass (no really, it’s true you could) today it’s not that easy. jester

Self propelled Toro. And it works nicely and started up okay. I’m just really not used to doing this. I think I’ve mowed my lawn less than 5 times in my life. So it’s definitely something I’m not even used to thinking about – let alone doing it.

But… unlike my Leaf Blowing Adventures last fall I didn’t run over any dog poop with the mower today! 😁👍💩

My wife not only likes cutting the lawn, she insisted that we get a NON-self propelled mower, for the additional exercise.

I can watch her mow all day long,,,,,

I’d much rather mow the grass than water it. Rain is so much easier and less costly and less time consuming that watering it with a sprinkler.

I remember when I was a kid and couldn’t wait to be old enough to use the lawn mower. That got old quick.

Just one I guess! I got the ambition shortly after I finished it. 😁🍹

I’ll blame my crooked lines, missed spots, and rounded corners on my mimosa. coffee

Gah, I may suck at mowing my lawn but I just googled how to adjust the tension on my screen door when it closes because it just wacked me in the ankle. A quick turn with a screwdriver and the door closes softer now! I’ll take that as a win! 😉👍

two years ago I bought a bad boy ZT elite mower, love it other than it has no suspension and my yard is rough in spots, rough enough it will shake my jack and pepsi out of my blue mason jar even when its only half full, dang the luck!!
so,drilled a hole in a sealing lid just big enough to put a straw through, mix it up,install the lid and ring, bingo !! no more spilling my drink!!
sigh,I did learn one thing real quick,do you know how fast you can get a buzz drinking booze through a straw????
well,I can attest to the fact mowing lines get real crooked by the time I was half done with the yard that only takes forty minutes to mow with that thing.
sure beats five hours with a twenty one inch push mower though!!

Sharon, I’ll trade you a day of mowing for a day of pruning!

You know my theory. The nicer a lawn you have the more often you have to mow it. Neighbor pushed mowed his whole lawn yesterday and followed it up by hopping on the rider the rest of the day. Either he’s not catching any fish or his wife must be in a really good mood.

I don’t mind snow blowing but really don’t like lawn mowing. I think it is snow blowing is a random event but that @#$$ grass needs to be cut each week. Who came up with the idea of grass in the first place? Why didn’t they decide a nice area of dandelions was to be most desired. Guess that would have made it too easy.

I’ll the lone crazy one on this…… I actually enjoy mowing. Mine takes me about two hours on a rider and it is my “me time” that I get no interruptions, nobody wants anything, etc…. it’s just nice thinking time. Put in ear plugs, and zone out for a couple hrs.

I don’t mind mowing. Our yard takes about 20 minutes. The piece of park land behind us I do on a volunteer basis takes about an hour with the steep hillside on one end.

I enjoy mowing the cabin yard. If I so the main trail to the lake and the yard it will take about 7 hours. I split it up thought and get the yard done first. The next day I’ll do the main trail if its dry enough. If not, the next group has something to do.

Question: how do you decide whether to bag the grass, mulch, or let it side discharge? What factors are there to consider? Thanks guys!

Its simple – i am lazy, so i discharge. If its thick and forms wind rows, the next Day when its dry i pull the lawn sweeper over the rows… that only takes a couple minutes.

I only bag if I want the clippings for the garden or if there are leafs that I want to suck up.

I mulch unless the grass has gotten a bit too long. Then, I’ll throw on the chute because it works better.

Mulching is the best as it’s like an extra application of nitrogen over the season. The longer it is, the slower I go and it will give the blades more time to mulch and let the clippings fall into the grass. Also, if it is real long, I will cut it again going perpendicular to the way I just cut it. I only bag the first time in the spring to get the remaining leaves and in fall when there’s too many leaves to mulch.

I bag the last mow of the year, and usually a couple times in the spring to cover the garden (no weeds!!), but mulch the rest of the time. I like mowing, but some headphones and a drink after definitely help!
