I bought a new Skeeter 2190 this fall and have a Helix 12 mega di at the console. At the time, I didnt know much about these units. Salesman told me I can add side imaging at a later date with a different transducer. I trusted him. Now Im looking at side imaging and cant find any info on it.
Can I buy a new transducer and use my existing unit, or do I need to buy a new Helix12 with SI??
You will need a new head unit. You could get a smaller networkable unit and mirror the SI on the Helix12.

You spent big bucks on that rig and you were misled at a minimum or flat-out lied to. I’d be in the dealer’s office-the manager or owner, not the salesman-and raising the roof. I’d insist they swap it out, with you paying only the difference in the price, no installation cost. You can easily check the Humminbird website and find the retail price difference.
Like said. Try to have them swap it or add a smaller networking unit and view the side imaging on your 12.
