Adding scent to nightcrawlers for sturgeon

Ok, so I know the whole adding scent to baits for sturgeon has been beat to death but I have a quick question…

We normally do OK, or I guess in our minds OK for the one weekend we fish sturgeon a year. We use crawlers as we fish an inland lake and haven’t experimented with much else. This year I wanted to try adding scent such as Sturgeon Frenzy/Sturgeon Cocktail.. Now with crawlers obviously they’re a little harder to inject versus say cut bait.

Has anyone here messed with a scent delivery device? Such as adding a small piece of cut foam soaked in scent then put on the hook? Our leaders are mason line so I’ve thought about soaking those

    Yellow.

I know a fella that soaks his crawlers in ketchup and swears by it. Me? I’m more of a traditional type of guy.

I have used a syringe and needle to inject scent into the crawlers. You need a bigger needle to be able to inject the thicker stuff. I think I used a nightcrawler scent. It worked. When I did it we caught 37 sturgeon that weekend.

You have any idea what size needle you had? I was going to try the Pro Cure injector (heard the needle might be too big) or the berkely worm inflater but figured that would be too small.

I wouldn’t have any idea where else to get a syringe.

Edit. Looks like I can go to a pharmacy and buy 10 syringes without a prescription. Going to get some weird looks when I say I’m injecting worms

You want bigger needles than what they have at a pharmacy. Go to a farm supply for veterinary needles.

Thanks, I’ll see if I can get anything at Fleet Farm or Tractor Supply
