Adding a new rod for Walleye and Perch

What I have now is now (in order of power of the rod) is the TUCR Fusion, DH Custom Perch Pounder and the TUCR Commander. I tossing around the idea of adding another rod that would fit between the Perch Pounder and the Commander. Im looking at 2 manufactures, TUCR and JT Custom Rods and am looking for someone that has experience with the rods below, or even better, someone that has used both and can provide a comparison.

    TUCR Precision
    JT Customs Shiver Stick
    JT Customs Gold Digger
( I think the Shiver Stick and Gold Digger are very similar except for the length for the most part?)

Im not looking for who makes a better rod, I have a lot of experience with both manufactures already (open water and ice rods), Im just not familiar with these specific models of ice rods and which would be a good fit in my lineup in the spot I want to fill

    Thank you

I bought my Precision this year and think it’s a great rod. A little more quicker to the backbone than the Fusion. I use it when I want to go to a bigger lure profile. I have to say the Fusion is the sweet spot for me. I just got back from Devils Lake and I used it exclusively and it handled everything from the jumbo perch to the 20 plus inch walleye and some pretty hefty white bass.
But you already have one so no need to keep selling it to you.

The Precision is a equally good rod and handles the 20 plus walleye with a bit more ease but the Fusion is more fun! toast

My next stop on the web is to Reeds to see if they have a TUCR Dead Stick in stock.

Hopefully I don’t get flamed for mentioning a rod not on your list but the Thorne Bros. Perch Sweetheart is another to consider in the group.

I built one at 36 inches and especially at that length it has a pretty solid backbone that will handle pretty good sized fish. The tip is such that it fishes 1/8oz spoons very well. It can go lighter as well, like 1/16 spoons or 5mm tungstens.

Precision is a great walleye stick and it a little faster and a little more backbone than the Fusion. I am not sure what length you are looking at for these. I really like my 32″ split grip.

I’ve had both and like the gold digger a little better than the precision. I don’t think one outperforms the other just personal preference on rod flex. I don’t know if parabolic is the right word but the jt rods seem to have a smoother flex/ action than some of the tucr.

Shiver stick is just a bit lighter than the gold digger. I use the gold digger a lot and like it for small spoons or number 3 and 4 rippin raps. Definitely check out the JT gold digger, perfect in my opinion for what you are looking for. The new black reign they came out with is also a great rod, I run that for the size 4 to 6 rippin raps and heavier buckshot rattle spoons. The gold digger is a great rod for middle of the road

Thank you for all of the responses. So it seems like either way, I cant go wrong, it may come down to seeing each of them in person at a store. Sheels carries them all (at least on their website) and I will be by a Scheels early next week, will have to stop in and see what they have

I prefer my Kichler custom NCR cheaper but better built then all you have listed above and will build to length and design of your choice. Al Will make the length you want handle design guides, wrap, and even put your name on it. look him up on facebook.

I have the JT Shiver Stick and it is definitely a nice rod. Works good for perch and walleye. I don’t have a Gold Digger but have looked at them and kicked around the idea of getting the 34 size. The Shiver Stick does fish nice in a shack since it is a little shorter but wish I had a little more length when outside and hole hopping. Don’t think you can go wrong with either but if you like your fishing rods with a little more length the 34 Gold Digger is probably the route to go.

Like said before. The Precision lies well between the Fusion and the Commander. The Precision’s tip is closer in power to the Fusion, Light vs Medium Light. But it’s backbone transition is more like the Commander, both have fast actions.

Gold digger sounds interesting but don’t count out Thorne brothers perch or walleye sweetheart.

I just compared a 32″ precision to a 34″ digger side by side and there almost exactly the same. I would say the precision is very minimally lighter in power. Softer tip/ less backbone. They are extremely similar in Action. Both awesome rods/ companies. Almost comes down to grip/ length preference
