I’ve had a Rapala digital scale for years and I’ve always thought it’s spot on.

I use a luggage scale to weigh a cat If want. I think it goes to 125 lbs, plus one of those elec Berkley scales that comes with a case, use for small fish.

Rapala scale , I will make sure it’s correct each spring before turkey season. Bring into our quality lab at work and double check nothing has changed so far it’s been spot on for weights.

Whatever scale you get, don’t get one with a hook on the end of it. Sticking that metal hook in the gills of a fish to weigh it causes damage to the fish. Plus there’s nothing holding the hook tight to the fish so it can flop off and smack down on the floor or ground and die. Use one with a clamp like they do in professional angling tournaments please.

Weigh your fish in your net. Subtract the weight of the net and your golden. They don’t make a fish scale that’s easy on fish if used directly on the fish.

Don’t see how anyone would attempt to hook anything to the gills of a fish. Never seen it done, you sure you’re not talking about the gill plate?

Winner, winner. Don’t even have to subtract for the net, just call that a built in bonus. wave

The most accurate scale on the market reportedly is the Brecknell ElectroSamson handheld scale with a jaw clamper added. It’s what you see on Major League Fishing and what the major circuits use for catch/weigh/release tourney formats.

It’s spot on. I compared it to my electronic kitchen scale.

$80. One year warranty. Fyi, very minimal water resistance. It wasn’t designed for the boat. I honestly think I fried my first one due to boat locker humidity after leaving it in a ‘dry’ rod locker for a couple months in the summer.

Almost all the anglers on B.A.S.S. are using the rapala digital one. I also have it and like it, quick clips on fish. I have checked it by weighing weights used for calibration and it is very accurate. Good for bass/walleye, prob not a good way to weigh large catfish and sturgeon obv.
