So first time muskie fisherman, I am looking at the a ABU GARCIA Revo Toro s 61 for a muskie reel. I would using this for double 8 blades (Jr Cow Girl) or somewhere along that line.

Would this reel be something that could handle the type of stress from these blades?

I own a few winches in the 60 size.

I believe the s is significantly less expensive than the beast (new winch). I’ll venture to guess it don’t have the same guts.

You’re for sure good with the beast. The s might struggle with double 8’s but I do not have any experience with it, except I could never bring myself to buy one. Winch/beast or your casting for bass imo.

You bet, i have the same reel but rightie, have been happy with it overall. I you go to twin 10s it handles them fine as well.

Do you have it with the power handle or did you stay with the normal dual paddles.

The power handle will help with fatigue.

I got the power handle. I put 75 yards of 80 or 100 on, not sure what they can hold but you dont need anymore than that. Buy some cheap bulk 20lb mono for a filler, good post on that in this forum a while back. Buy a 150 yard spool, split it between 2 reels and reverse both once the original gets frayed or nicked up. Very economical.

I’ve been shopping as well and for new, best prices I’ve found are eBay as of a week or two ago.
