I have had this reel since the mid 90’s. It has been a great reel but I’m lacking information. I cannot find any history / specs or value for this reel. Can anyone help? Thanks

The good news is that it was a Sweden model and better than the current Abu’s. What model is it and does it have a thumb button release or the button on the reel housing?

The thumb button is over the spool. The model designation is pictured on the side.

The designation on the picture you posted is the number of ball bearings, 5 + 1 roller bearing.

Per blank’s link, the model would be a 5600. Condition is everything, so, I would place the value pretty low, maybe $30 – $40 to the right person.

Very good long lasting reels. However like Dave says they have limited value.

Very close. The side plates are the same and it is an all aluminum frame. Mine has a different thumb bar and is more narrow. On the bottom of reel seat it is stamped SAMPLE…so maybe it is a prototype. Thanks for your response. Let me know if you have any additional thoughts.

If the reel housing and spool is narrower than the 5600, yours is actually a 4600.

Thanks for advice. Sounds like a good idea.

Could be some type of version. I have a 5000 / 5500 / 6000 & 7000 all from the 70’s. Comparing this reel side by side not only is it narrower but the diameter is also a little smaller. This reel is also built with an aluminum frame…quite different from my other ambassadors.

I have definitely enjoyed using this reel…just caught a little tarpon with it last week.

I would agree on the 4600 series model c3 I think there is another number after the c3 that designates that thumb switch

I checked out the 4600 c3 but could not find one with an aluminum frame. There may be a version I’m missing. I have seen tournament versions that have one piece aluminum frames.
