The waters up and it will likely warm this week. Where and how would you fish smallies North of the dam? We like running up to Wild Mountain area and just float down stream.
Second question…..I thought the river up there was a protected Federal waterway and jet ski’s are against the law. In all the years I have gone there I have never saw any until Sunday when there were two there. Are they legal?

I’d throw a whopper plopper or walk the dog style bait on for them. That’s what’s tied to my smallie rods for rivers. It’s the funnest way (to me) and sometimes the most effective way in some areas. I usually try to find piles of Boulders and then try the area around that pile. Sometimes it’s right behind it in the slackier water. Some days they’re in front of it in the swifter water. Sometimes they are on the edge of the rocks where the seam is going around the pile.
You are correct, PWCs are not allowed on the st croix above Stillwater.
