So, those who said they are happy with the GB Aaron deal… if you get more of the same… win the division, home field throughout and lose the first game… was it a bust ?

Is making the playoffs bad? Is winning the NFC north bad?

Certainly not. Its very difficult to make the playoffs each and every year in the NFL over a long period of time. If you win your division, you are guaranteed a home playoff game too.

The knock on the Packers (generally coming from Packer fans themselves) is that they need to take the next step. Winning the division, getting a bye, and failing to get past a certain point now with A-Rodge at the helm just isn’t good enough anymore.

it won’t be a bust. getting to and winning a Super Bowl is damn hard and you don’t have any chance if you don’t even make the playoffs. so, it gives them a chance and the hope is that when you give yourself enough chances eventually it pays off. at the same time, if they don’t win a SB in the next few years it won’t be a huge success either, as winning the Super Bowl is clearly the goal and right now is their best shot – elite defense, elite backfield, and an elite QB in search of worthwhile WRs. this team is going to look so very, very different in 2025 and after 30 plus years i’m not sure that my fellow Packers fans will be prepared for life without a HoF-calibre quarterback.

separate from winning a SB, one thing the contract does is ensure that Rodgers’ legacy with the team won’t have the same purple blot on it that Favre’s has got, and that matters too on an emotional fan connection level.

Packers could have won the past 2 NFC Championships games easily. Special teams have killed them in both games and Defensive Coaching killed them against Tampa. Also Rodgers only targeting Adams was a huge issue last year and I’m still scratching my head on why because he normally will at least target a few other guys but that game it was like Adams was the only receiver on the field.

Last year I personaly think it was one of the better teams they have had going into the playoffs. Sometimes teams just beat themselves.

the knock on Rodgers is only one super bowl win, the problem with that when Rodgers should of been winning SB’s while in his prime, we had Ted Thompson for a GM and only going after bargain basement players on both sides of the ball, he also would trade draft positions to move down just to get more picks, most weren’t that good to begin with.

    Ted Thompson for a GM

Isn’t Thompson the GM who Favre disliked when he made the decision to move onto Rodgers?

    elite defense

How do you figure? They were 16th in Points against last year, and 9th in yards given up per game, and I don’t see that improving this year unless they add some talent. TBD if Douglas and Campbell continue to have outlier years, or return to their mean too.

The Packers would never have on the Super Bowl without Ted. That team had so many guys he drafted step up for that team. Ted was not as effective in his later year when he was still working while being sick. He should have stepped down a few years earlier than he did because he was losing it.

MVS just went to the Chiefs for a 3 year deal at 30 Million! Little bit of an overpayment if you ask me.

    I totally agree.

Apparently GB receivers don’t think playing with AR is worth playing for less $$$$. I don’t blame them either.

i’d offer that anything in the top 1/3 of the league is elite, so 9th fewest yards allowed per game is still pretty good.

    6th most INTs
    6th fewest Rec TDs allowed
    7th fewest opponent plays allowed
    9th best scoring differential
1st lowest opponent time of possession

many defensive stats are shaded by what the offense does with the ball, but it is what it is. the problem area absolutely was rush defense, so that needs help with the expectation that passing defense will remain strong.

MVS will slide nicely into the Tyreek Hill roll for KC: speed straight downfield. of course Hill could also catch the ball, so there’s that.

I don’t think KC is intending to replace Cheetah with just one player. They’ve gone out of their way to sign multiple players now at WR. In other words: replacement by committee.

I think Mecole Hardman is the one who’s poised for a breakout season with Hill gone. He’s been there for years as a 3rd or 4th WR.

The Mecole Hardman anticipated break out year is a pretty popular take among the fantasy football crowd and all the talking heads on ESPN. It’s hard to argue with the prediction. People forget that he was a 4.3 guy coming out of college also.

MVS is straight line fast with longer strides. Tyreek Hill was quick twitch and straight line fast who was probably even more deadly taking short passes and turning them into huge plays than just running 9 routes. I think Hardman is going to be used all over the field, while MVS will stay wide as their guy for 9’s and deep posts.

The Packers need the slot guy in the worst way or someone who can take little bubbles and hitches and turn them into something big. The Packers faithful keeps chanting for Julio, but that’s literally the opposite of what he brings. At this point in his career he’s a red zone target and a sure-handed possession guy.

true, Hill is better overall. that’s reflected in the very, very different contracts that they just signed. of course, if MVS can break through there, it’ll make him look like a steal in comparison.

Ah yes, the year the Aint’s cheated… still say they should have been stripped of the title.
