Every once in a while it’s fun to go back a look at history.
I’m told it gets worse as a person gets older by Herb.

interesting for sure! I enjoyed looking through that. I don’t know anything about that site or the history of that site though, because, well, I was 12 years old when it looks like it ended…
I joined back in the FTR days and still remember reading it in the library during grad school. Good stuff. Check out the walleye discussion — one of the threads is “Catch & Release on Pool 4”! You can only see part of it, but it’s a debate about whether the big females should be released or not. Made me smile.
Aaaaahhh….the good old days.
Next week will we see movingwaters guide service?
I thought this was a walleye site so, Who’s this guy?
Wow – that was a real blast from the past! I seem to recall that there was even an earlier version of Fish The River – before the EFN days?
Thanks!

The first message board was on the website called MovingWaters.net. This was James’ guide website. Many of us followed the daily reports on the pool 4 bite. That took off and FishTheRiver.com was started. FTR was mostly an upper Mississippi river and St Croix focused website. Another site called FishTheLake.com was started for the lake guys. Both sites came under the Electronic Fishing Network umbrella or EFN. During this time the Hunting website was also created. FTR and FTL were combined into one site call InDepth Outdoors and there have been a couple upgrades and now with the last update the Hunting and Fishing forums all exist under one web address now. It’s been a fun ride!

I would REALLY like to see the 4 page thread on Big Head Carp from August of 2002. Jon Jordan was the last poster.
I remember those days some times I wish we could go back to it… LOL
That breast pump classified ad discussion and the green sunfish debate are the most memorable to me. I think they were both more recent than FTR, though. LOL
I remember talk about how all this information being on the interweb is going to ruin the fisheries.
I am still waiting!
You haven’t been to P 4 and 2 lately. There isn’t a fish left. LOL!

I’ve seen many depleted in a short order due to social media.
I’m not talking about any river system.

Kind-of what I was referring to in the locked thread about keeping/releasing spawning fish on P4. …There still are “a few guys” who frequent this site from that long ago. Funny how history repeats itself – even on this website. It’s still interesting to read and re-hash of some of the same age-old fishing debates though.
