Happens more often than you think and much more common than mass shootings but the liberal media does not cover it because guns are the root of all evil right coffee I think last year it was like 276 homicides were stopped by armed citizens in the country.

I said liberal media which would include most of the big names except for fox. The independent from my knowledge is a more conservative news source.

Let me be honest. It is an interesting story but this was Brazil where murder is as Brazilian as apple pie is American. Don’t quote me but I think Brazil is the most violent country in the world.

Only a conservative media source would dig this up from Brazil.

Not calling it fake news but you have to wonder the motive.

Brazil has strict guns laws hence a higher murder rate. Wait what:???: in Brazil you must register your firearms and pay fees every few years to own a firearm. Carrying a firearm is generally illegal outside of the residence unless it is in possesion of law enforcement. Look at Australia they had a gun buy back program and the murder rates went up.

I got a little off topic but was trying to add a little to your claim that Brazil is the most violent country in the world. The media’s motive here was probably to show how concealed carry can protect innocent people. Guessing they had to search pretty hard to find this story though. Anyways it’s time for ice fishing yay

You are much more likely to get shot by your own gun than be protected by it. One guy hacked a data base and published the addresses of gun owners in his neighborhood. Not cool-bad thing to do, honestly. Still, gun owners were VERY upset. Why? Because people love to steal guns. But wait guns buy protection, so those gun owners should WANt their address published so the crooks would run far and fast from their home.I would not publish those addresses. Guns give false empowerment. Wisdom is real empowerment, think Andy Griffith–need a gun to feel powerful? You are Barney.

I can’t speak for everyone of course but I don’t want power. I want to survive.

Guns don’t buy protection if no ones home.

Andy Griffith was a tv show. I live in the real world. There are bad guys out there that will cut you for $10. Shoot you in the head because you didn’t open the cash register fast enough.

    Further,

Myth #1: A Gun In The Home Means You Are Three Times More Likely To Be Killed
    1. Fact: Guns are used more often to save life. Dr. Edgar Suter has pointed out that studies which make the claim that guns are more likely to kill the owner are flawed because they fail to consider the number of lives saved by guns. (1) That is, such claims ignore the vast number of non-lethal defensive uses with firearms. Criminologists have found that citizens use firearms as often as 2.5 million times every year in self-defense. In over 90% of these defensive uses, citizens merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off the attacker. (2)

    2. Fact: A study claiming “guns more likely to kill you than help you” is a total fraud. Not surprisingly, the figure claiming one is three times more likely to be killed by one’s own gun is a total lie. The author of this study, Dr. Arthur Kellerman, refused to release the data behind his conclusions for years. (3) Subsequently available evidence shows why Kellerman stonewalled for so long:

    * Researcher Don Kates reveals that all available data now indicates that the “home gun homicide victims [in Kellerman’s study] were killed using guns not kept in the victim’s home.” (4) In other words, the victims were NOT murdered with their own guns! They were killed “by intruders who brought their own guns to the victim’s household.”

    * In retrospect, Kates found, it was not the ownership of firearms that put these victims at high risk. Rather, it was the victim’s “high-risk life-styles [such as criminal associations] that caused them to own guns at higher rates than the members of the supposedly comparable control group.”(5)

Remember Cris Kyle(American Sniper)-should have been the safest man in America killed by a vet. Believe the bible? Live by the sword…
Most of my friends own guns, I don’t judge them, but we do need to rethink some things in this country.
