Keep soaking up every minute of it with your family. Prayers from mine to yours and Merry Christmas!
Ron SPosts: 79December 25, 2018 at 9:23 pm #1820478Randy I completely understand I just went through this with my Mother and lost her on Dec 21. Words are hard and inadequate. My sisters and I just realized we gave her the one last best Christmas that circumstances allowed. We were able to keep her at home till the end. Looks like you are doing likewise.
No intent to hijack, just explain that I understand what a hard sweet sorrow this can be.
God bless You, your Dad and the rest of your family.

January 3, 2019 at 10:05 am #1822730Mom passed Jan 2 peacefully. No more pain, no more grief, no more ailments that kept her from life.
I want to thank everyone that kept us in their thoughts and prayers. WE were able to fulfill her wish to be at home with me taking care of her to the end. 27/7 in home care nearly by myself was almost the impossible. Getting only minutes of sleep a day, and the mental awareness to every sound, alarm clock set for every 2 to 3 hours for meds, cleaning, and most of all just caring. I could not have donenthis with the vast amount of support i received. MANY long time friend from here on IDO called around the clock to check in on me. Looking back at my messages, it’s unreal how many 1, 2, 3 , 4 AM messages I got with friends knowing I would be awake and lending their ear, time, and love for others. Again, thanks to all that lent themselves in giving me strength to hold my mother’s hand and walk this journey with her.

January 3, 2019 at 10:44 am #1822746She’s in a better place, still sending prayers to you and your family. We did hospice care at home with my dad for several months, so I kind of know what it’s like, but I don’t pretend to know how it was to be in your shoes. I know she appreciates all you did.
Nice to know fishing friends aren’t really fishing friends. They arefriends period.
January 3, 2019 at 10:53 am #1822750After your original post I thought about you and your family over the holidays every once and awhile and was hoping things were going as well as they could for all of you.
May she rest in peace, and my sympathies to you and your family.

Amazing experience and I wouldn’t change a single thing. There are details of the process that I will never share, as there is no need. But I made my mother that promise nearly 40 years ago, and I was blessed with incredible memories that I will have forever.
